Unfortunately personal problems in recent years diminished the fabulous player and personality that he was.
RIP, Puck.

One can never say, "Well, it was for the best" for anyone but oneself, but this may be close.
RIP, Kirby; you deserved better.

I'm not a doctor, but every time I remember that beaning I have to think it must have done serious damage. Prayers for the family.

As a player he was amazing. As a man he was lacking in character and class.
RIP Kirby.

He was like Sharon, short and extremely over weight. I wish he had taken better care of himself in retirement.

I'm not a sports fan but am familiar with the name. What type of problems did he have in recent years?

The thing that made him so great was he never blamed someone else. He always acceped responsibility. A trait not seen much today.

During the 1980s and 1990s you could ask ANY kid in Minnesota who their favorite sport star was and it was 100% Kirby. He will be missed by a LOT of people.
He may have had some personal issues, but on the field, and in the clubhouse, he was the best.
