What one really needs is the direct, real-time reading of enemy's mind. Otherwise the bottleneck would be neither collection nor distribution, but the real-time analysis of gigantic information flows. Look at the NSA - and how long did it take them to assemble the 9/11 picture? And they have the analytical capacity in excess of what could be available to a mobile field HQ.

No question that our new surveillance platforms, including the new satellites permanently positioned over the Middle East greatly enhance our warfighting. However, our greatest intel challenge is to understand the enemies motives as we understand their motion.

We must emphasize that this is total war, society versus society. As such, everthing and everywhere is a battlefield. The enemy learns very well and is an expert at dislocation. We can only counter that by rapid transformation of tactics, something that is very difficult in our beauracratized and distanced military command.

We must get more of our Brass in theater, in permanment intel, and command and control bases and get them out of S Florida and the Pentagon.

This is nothing compared to persistent surveillance in population control, aka "chipping".
