A to-do list for George Clooney and his brave crowd
Prior to and during Sunday nights Academy Awards, Hollywood luminaries were busy patting themselves on the back for their courage in honoring films depicting two gay cowboys as star-crossed lovers, a gay writer as a soulful artist, a transsexual as a responsible parent, a Palestinian suicide bomber as a thoughtful, conscience-driven activist, greedy oil company executives as, well, greedy oil company executives, and Senator Joe McCarthy as (gasp) a threat to American civil liberties. As George Clooney, who had a hand in both the oil-industry-bashing Syriana and the McCarthy-bashing Good Night, and Good Luck, recently noted, People in Hollywood do seem to be getting more comfortable with making these sorts of movies now. Good thing for Hollywood that Hollywooders think highly of Hollywood...cuz nobody else does.
And brave? Yeah right.
Theo Van Gogh was brave. When hollywood does a similar film under a real threat of violent retribution...then I will think them brave. Till then they will always be a bunch of self absorbed hedonistic sissies...(with a few exceptions like Gibson etc).

I'd go see Che: The Later Years

The entire article is well worth reading. Hypocrisy, thy name is Hollywood.

Theo wasn't armed. Antagonizing violent nutsos and then walking around unarmed may be brave, but it also ain't very smart.
Would have been cool if he'd blown the wacko away when he attacked, but of course Theo was a law-abiding observer of their gun laws.
True. But given that most hollywacko's have well trained bodyguards that are armed....I rest my case...they are self righteous cowards.
Its one thing to be a coward though...and quite another to be a coward that claims bravery. And that is what these hollydickheads are doing. I cannot stand them!
So would I, if the director was brave enough to stay with history that would make a cool flick.
Hell, I'd go just to see the ending.
