1) You can power an ethanol plant with Coal, thats not oil... Do we make fertilizer with coal? What about the fuel to get the corn to the plant or the ethanol to the market?

What about the fuel to get the corn to the plant or the ethanol to the market? 1) We use *energy* to do these and as with any type of energy it can be substituted... eg use BioDesel for the farm equipment and nuclear / alternative energy sources to power factories that make fertilizer.
