Like Barry Goldwater, Browne believed these were not issues that the federal government should be meddling in - either pro or con.

In the world of political animals, the dwindling band of neanderthals has lost a giant.

Browne's speeches always stressed a desire to return to the days of fierce individualism, when each man was a king of own cave, and life was deliriously nasty, brutish, and short. He frequently lamented the fact that the new guys on the block, the cro-magnons, had become dominant and had different ideas that included something called "civilization" that made allowance for some cooperative activities within the ambit of something called the "state."

Prayers for this man's family. And prayers for America that someone resume this man's legacy.
