An Open Letter to Arnold
The Ohio State Sentinel ^ | Feb. 2005 | Antonio Ciaccia

Posted on 03/05/2006 3:34:28 PM PST by Antonio Ciaccia

Dear Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger,

I am writing you to make a request. This request not only affects you, but it affects millions of citizens who need your help. It is time for you to throw in the towel on your political career. It is time for you to help society in a much more important way. The time has come to end the unsavory game of politics and to return to the movies.

You decided to run for Governor at a time when California was facing a fiscal crisis that warranted a man of action to take charge and to “take out the papers and the trash.” Your intentions were good, Arnold, I don’t think anyone can doubt that. You went into office trying to cut waste, balance budgets, and to undo the statism that you saw choking the California economy. But unfortunately, as much as I wish it weren’t so, you, Arnold, my childhood hero, the man who single-handedly saved mankind from a seven-foot alien with dreadlocks, cannot save California from girly man politicians.

It’s time to face the facts. You and I both know that the system is broken, and it’s going to take a lot more than one man to reverse years and years of an ever-growing bureaucracy. Arnold, it’s going to take more than a Terminator to terminate this problem.

This is why it is time to call it quits. It is time to leave the system that tells its citizens what they can and can’t put into their bodies, the system that tells its citizens where they can and can’t smoke, the system that can take an individual’s home away from them to put up an office building.

Now, I’m sure that you’re asking yourself (since you read The Sentinel every month), "Aaarrrrgghh! What do I do then? I still have to finish my term!” Well the answer is simple Governor Schwarzenegger. Screw it. Get out of Sacramento immediately, and move back to Hollywood. Yes, Arnold, I’m talking about going back to movies, and not after your present term- but like Sammy Hagar once said, “Right Now”.

Your talents are better served on screen than in the Governor’s mansion. What California, and even America for that matter, really needs is a role model, not another bureaucrat.

A lot has happened since you took office. The biggest action stars to speak of are wannabes like Vin Diesel and girly men like Tobey Maguire. Long gone are the Commando days when you can say something totally sweet before killing a bad guy like, “Remember when I told you I was going to kill you last? I lied.” What is an action film fan to do? They just don’t build action heroes like they used to. Now, they use computer animated behemoths like in The Hulk just to attempt to come close to the level of hugeness that you once had. And they don’t even play AC/DC during the gunfights! Can you believe it?! I’m pissed too!

Action films are an important part of our culture. They feature larger-than-life heroes who can go at it alone when necessary to cut the crap, screw the rules, and to do what we deep-down feel is just. Action heroes do exactly what politicians can’t do- they can actually bring about real change, and though unconventional, they do what is right. They don’t check the polls, they check their ammo supply.

The truth is, Arnold, you’re not getting any younger. As much as I tried to pretend in Terminator 3 that you were still the same Austrian Oak you were back in the 80s, it just isn’t true. Your window of opportunity is closing, and time is running out.

We need you Arnold. We need real action films, and we need you to be in them spouting off cheesy one-liners and killing hundreds of terrorists. We need Terminator 4, True Lies 2, Jingle All the Way 2, and perhaps a sixth Dirty Harry where you and Clint Eastwood team up to take out evil gangs while chowing down on cheeseburgers.

Yes, Arnold, the time has come. There is a reason that guys watch Pumping Iron in the limo on their way to their High School Prom (guilty as charged). You are the man. I just don’t think I can handle another action film starring Matt Damon. Here’s hoping that the true "Last Action Hero" makes his triumphant return.

Yours Truly,

Antonio Ciaccia, Totally Pumped-Up Arnold Fan

"There is a reason that guys watch Pumping Iron in the limo on their way to their High School Prom..."

LOL! Is this true?

Don't worry about Arnold, he'll be back in good form soon enough. I wish I had his speech at the pubbie convention on DVD. I was banging on the table like a good kraut during that one, much to the annoyance of hubby.

Heck, I wish I had the whole convention on DVD, one was better than another.

How about Kindergarten Cop II...
It could be about public school students who (after mandatory islam indoctrination) set forth to destroy America.
Arnold could be the hero that wipes them out...

(AKA socialism slow is somehow better then socialism fast)

Tony, Tony ,Tony!

No one gives a poot about your "open Letter" to who ever your mighty ego decides to dress down.

Get a hobby Ton', find useful work, help the poor.
The very idea that Arnold is breathlessly waiting for your public utterance is preposterous.

'Ton, call you Mama!

Hey Antonio,
Why don't you focus on your own sick, elected officials. Aren't a couple of them in jail? And how about the elections? Seems like you guys are having trouble running those too. Leave us alone out here and go back to your room.

What a terrific idea ( SARCASM). Let's leave the field open to Angelides. Wow, what a great idea. ( MORE SARCASM).

In case you didn't notice, even Antonio had enough sense and put this into the Humor category.

Well, that's the problem when a party endorses someone way before the primary. Now it's too late to replace 'em now that he has gone "left" on us. (and here I thought that's what open primaries were about, silly me)

It is kinda humourous when you think about it. How does the CAGOP make Arnold look conservative? Compare him to Angelides. Great strategy. At least I get to vote for Tom...and I get to vote against the bonds.
