Oliver North did his War Stories on FOX tonight. It was all about how Hollywood used to be when this country was in WW II.

He had all the old actors from that era, most of which, who served their country. Some of them who he interviewed were, Tony Curtis, Cliff Robertson, Eddie Albert and several sweet ladies. It brought tears to my eyes, to see all the old Stars who honored their countries as well as the strong moral messages they presented during that time.

It was particularly painful to see the honor and respect that Hollywood once had for this country. All the old actors were very sad, at what has become of a once great institution.

I saw part of that.....that was a time when celebrities were also patriots......so long ago.....

both my parents are WW2 vets.....I can't stand to think this country is losing people like them, even with my own mom facing down cancer and my dad with heart failure....I will surely miss them and their generation....

It certainly is sad to see today's 'stars' squander such a decent legacy. I definitely give the old and classy pros credit for keeping their (mostly Democrat) politics under their hats during time of war. It really doesn't bother me so much that people like George Clooney (who won Best Supporting Actor according to Yahoo! News) are Democrats-that's pretty much a given in the industry since the glory days of the 1930s. What galls me is they're so obnoxious about it, attempting to pass themselves off as more intelligent and well read than a man who possesses an MBA from Harvard and a Bachelors degree from Yale.

That was a great show! I had gotten back from a visit to a National Cemetary shortly before that was on -

There's no one of 'note' in Hollywood anymore - there have been several threads recently about the demise of the true Hollywood hunk. Same thing goes for true ladies. I loved the clip of Bob Hope and the 'pretty young thing' and he said something to the effect of "just wanted to remind you of what you're fighting for." :)

I read a while back, and I can't swear for its accuracy, that a big change came after the Supreme Court legalized porn and many of its producers, writers, etc. were absorbed into the rest of the entertainment industry.
