I am not going near the TV tonight and will learn who wins from Drudge. I would rather watch Paris Hilton than the Oscars.

Going to check back later when they're on. I love these live threads. The one last year was really funny. I hope some Freeper is watching it and giving us a play-by-play.
Freepers are better wits than Jon Stewart ever dreamed of being.

I don't need a push to not watch the largest "Hate America" organization--Hollyweird--hand out awards to the top producing propagandists.
I am just glad there is a lot of moaning and groaning about the lack of ticket sales and declining movie attendance. I always get a good laugh when they try to explain reasons for this but NEVER mention Hollyweird is a total turn off to 50% of the American public who are not socialists or "hate America" zealots.

I don't boycott them, I just don't have any interest. I lost interest when Saving Private Ryan didn't win best picture. That alone told me it was a popularity contest, not a objective measure of the best move.
I have ZERO interest in a Hollywood popularity contest.

Is it feasible to boycott something you've never watched? Hmmm.

I want the ratings for this year's program go into the toilet (where most the nominated movies belong). I'm boycotting the Oscars right along with ya. And that's all I've got to say 'bout that.

The only part I sort of like to watch is where they go through all the people that have passed on, there's always someone you remember buy you really didn't know their name etc., it's interesting but the rest I don't know.
To: freedom4me
Don't plan on watching. With jon stewart hosting, it will most likely be a Bush bashing monologue.

I haven't watched the Oscars, or any of the other self-congratulatory Hollywood awards programs, in over twenty years and don't plan to start now. It seems there is some sort of Hollywood awards program about every week anymore. When do the wierdos have time to make movies?

I can' watch. I'm going to see a movie about a gay, transgendered newsman exposing Senator McCarthy.

Since the agenda this year is completely obvious, I wonder if a lousy Oscar ratings performance will be somehow covered up, or at least spun, by the Nielsen people -- in the same way MSM polls tend to oversample Democrats.

Snore. A friend of mine and I are watching a DVD (transferred from tape) of an old Mystery Science Theatre movie.

I only care about whether "Wallace and Gromit" gets an award. The human actors are dumber than a lump of clay.

Boycott? Not exactly.
I won't be watching because I really don't care for most show people*. They are near unilaterally self absorbed, and they care nothing for the folks who attend their films.
As a group, show people are not exactly "bookish". Yet, they are not shy about suggesting how we common peons should live our lives.
Show people and their entertainment media have degenerated to the production of the glorification of disrespect (of parents, country, and etc.) and the illustration of one left wing moral lesson after another - - punctuated my wardrobe malfunctions of increasing frequency.
When I think of show people, I think of Jane Fonda grinning broadly and wearing a North Vietnamese helmet while aiming a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun pretending to shoot American warplanes.
I think of Julia Roberts who said Republican comes in the dictionary just after reptile and just above repugnant.
And I think of the allegedly cerebral Bill Maher who said just following the 9/11 attacks "We have been the cowards, lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, it's not cowardly."
No thanks. I don't watch show people parade their unwarranted opinions of themselves and their inbred social order on award shows.
I'm above that. And each of you should be, as well.
So, while not a boycott, I suggest that we don't lower ourselves to the real status of show people (that of carnival operators with good teeth.)
* Exceptions, I can think of several. Jimmy Stewart comes to mind first.
