HAS ANYBODY SAID IT YET? BOYCOTT THE OSCARS (Oscars Live Thread)
3-4-06 | freedom4me

I suppose on this thread it goes without saying, but I'll say in anyway...BOYCOTT THE OSCARS tonight.

I want the ratings for this year's program go into the toilet (where most the nominated movies belong). I won't waste my money to see the films, my electricity to watch the Oscars, or my time watching to witness Hollywood's self-adulation fest.

Pass it on...

Little feather was waiting in the wings and when Brando won the Oscar she came out and went into a diatribe against the evil white men oppressing her "people". I believe this was during the Nixon Administration

I didn't get to see the show. The TV reception I got was so lousy, that I gave up after a few minutes, so I just kept watching the updates on FR.

Many of us don't watch the oscaras but would rather watch FR. (it also keeps Tivo from logging another viewer)

Grafefully we have FR.

From the summary this morning, it is apparent Hollyweird blinked. The kept the anti-americanism high but dialed the homosexual pride parade down a 1/4 notch.

I'd boycott the Oscars, but I have never watched them...

There was a time in the history of civilization when "entertainers" were considered the dregs of society, funny how things change.

You think the Arts belong to the Dregs of Society?

They do that at every ceremony. AMPAS is big on movie history.

I thought "Fahrenheit 9/11" getting an Oscar already had that title.

It wasn't even nominated.

The first feature film to use the F word was Joseph Strick's 1967 film of Ulysses.

I know that Reese has given to the Dems.....but she is till young....we can hope.

Her manners, grace and enthusiasm are heartfelt and genuine. Annette and I know folks here who grew up with her and that's what they say....I have never heard one bad word about her and her fame is still quite fresh. I think she graduated Harpeth Hall in 94.
Anyhow....I find her refreshing and great legs....and she nailed June Carter.

I bet her and her hubby settle here with their brood when her career slows down.

Hollywood has an agenda to promote and they are willing to even lose financially (up to a point) to do it: attack family values.

I read a while back, and I can't swear for its accuracy, that a big change came after the Supreme Court legalized porn and many of its producers, writers, etc. were absorbed into the rest of the entertainment industry.

It was a very lame show, but the political ads and Stewart were very good.

"I'm sure you will be delighted to hear the Gershwins never won the best-song award."

Gershwin - some of the most beautiful music every written.

Just listen to the soundtracks of any of Woody Allen movies of past years. He loves Gershwin.

That song that won last night's Oscar as best song to me, discouraging as it was, has got to get the attention of young songwriters who realize that America misses the composers of past years and yearns for clean, romantic, heart-tucking songs like the Gershwins, or Rodgers and Hart or Rodgers & Hammersten, Cole Porter, etc. used to write.

Their talents are sorely needed in today's world.

"Matt Dillon should have won."

I agree - he put his heart and soul into that film.

And Don Cheadle is always excellent.
