HAS ANYBODY SAID IT YET? BOYCOTT THE OSCARS (Oscars Live Thread)

I suppose on this thread it goes without saying, but I'll say in anyway...BOYCOTT THE OSCARS tonight.
I want the ratings for this year's program go into the toilet (where most the nominated movies belong). I won't waste my money to see the films, my electricity to watch the Oscars, or my time watching to witness Hollywood's self-adulation fest.
Pass it on...

I don't really care what liberals think. I don't live for their approval. Same with the Oscars. My world doesn't revolve around it.

Two years in a row that an impersonation has won
Best Actor.
I wonder what Rich Little's fireplace mantle looks like.

The Capote movie was based on a biography - you know a book. Well, I was in the book store the other day and they had a copy of the book and instead of actually having Truman Capote's picture on the friggin' cover - they had Philip Seymour Hoffman's picture - as Capote.
I thought that was ridiculous - and apropos.

Why is Travolta up there grinning like an idiot? Did he spot a Thetan loose in the auditorium?
To: Jhensy
He was also "The Artful Dodger" in the musical "Oliver".

My Dad says the theme song to Brokeback Mountain is "Homo on the Range"Does it go like this?
"I'm a Brokeback Mountaineer.
My friends all call me queer.
I like to take it in the rear.
Cause, I'm a Brokeback Mountaineer."

Hoffman's been in many films as a supporting player (Boogie Nights, Happiness, Mangolia, Twister etc.), but only recently has he emerged as a lead in such films as Love Liza and Owing Mahoney

I real shame. Fortunately, they see the error of their ways tonight, and as soon as they sober up, they'll be brainstorming ways to get their mojo back. ;)

Capote was such a caricature of himself that playing him would seem easy, but I didn't see the movie. Well, I did, and Hoffman gave an incredible performance. And no, it wasn't simply an 'impersonation'. He inhabited the character, which is all the more impressive since he was in every single scene of the film.
He deserved the win, in my opinion.

I saw it, too, and agree with your analysis.

I missed that comment. I try to ignore anything Clooney that comes across my screen -- that is how much I loathe the man.
