Since I'm talking about you, see my note in 180. HAte to post and not let someone know I've commented on their comments.
To: joesbucks
I wont say where you got your number, though I suspect somewhere darker and smellier. I gave my opinion based on history. You dont have to agree with me. I'll just chalk your comments up to being from one of those who think I called them idiots. I didnt, but it is funny how so many of you are rushing to claim the honor.

[ Expect Bill to be considered to be the next secretary general of the UN. Watch. ]
Hillary as Prez and Bill as Sec Gen of the U.N.. with a Democrat Congress would make the looting of the U.S. complete.. Including of course a serious rise in taxes.. and movement offshore of any intelligent business left.. With raising the prime rate to make Jimmah Carter jealous..
The Clintons learned much during the 8 years they were in office.. less obvious mistakes would be made..

My words are not meant to make a difference. They are meant to remind people of the gloom and doom around here at this time before elections, and how after Bush pulls it out in the end, no one remembers all the naysayers who ended up looking foolish.
If anyone wants to remember anything about this post, I hope it is the part about Bush paying no attention to negativity from the Right, because just like that from the left, it plays NO ROLE in the election outcome.
FReepers will not decide this election, they will only decide how large the margin of victory or loss. Since it is going to be victory, I am suggesting that they get on board now, so as to avoid hearing from me in November when my "I told you so" list goes crazy around here.

Pukin, You would think that after a decade or two conservatives would figure out the liberal game. We're always about to lose big right before an election. We're always on the ropes. We're always too corrupt and too stupid to do anything.
We're going to trounce their liberal butts again. I'm not in the least worried. And you can quote me on that.

Actually you're quite right where my number came from. I think yours is coming from the same channel. But it's simply an opinion and I or you could be entirely right.
But since, as you claim, history is on your side, I would have thought I'd see a little more in the way of teeth behind your claim instead of "might". I'd had rather seen you put your money where your post is.
There are simply too many operatives on this forum trying to blow sunshine up our skirts. While it's not all gloom and doom in the world of republican/conservative politics, there are some real concerns and issues out there that need attention going into an election. Those concerns and issues need addressed. Rah Rah and Pom Poms, no matter how well written or whether written by some average guy or gal who or an operative, is not a substitute for addressing real issues and real concerns or not only the base but the swing voter.

I thought once about running for office. Then I realized it was only gas and let it go.

Well, since I am not an 'operative' here to blow sunshine up your skirt, and I am aware that there are serious concerns out there, I can only tell you that I have always held the assumption that FReepers would not need a history lesson from me or anyone else. Those concerns you mentioned are not going to be addressed by cutting off your nose to spite your face in November.
You can all start by becoming less of a pawn for the Media to play around with. You got lied to for a week by the media regarding Katrina, on Rove/Plame, on the Ports, and so on and so on, yet your anger is directed at Bush instead. Some of you actually watch MSNBC! You don't even realize that it is Conservatives keeping MSNBC afloat. Liberals don't watch that mess, they depend on YOU to watch, because you will tune in just to get pissed off.
Then there is that Savage nut, playing to your rage instead of your brain, to which some of you just eat it up. Savage is like cocaine by radio. He goes straight to your emotions. My post is NOT Rah-Rah, it is an opinion. No more, no less. I certainly didn't expect everyone to agree, but to suggest that it would be better for me to offer a bet as evidence of my belief is just silly. I could actually be wrong (I'm not) and we will find out in November, where I will crow like nobodies business if proved right. If proved wrong, I will take my medicine then.

Well since I pretty much watch Fox news and listen to conservative talk radio (except Savage ain't in my market) I'm not sure how I've been influenced by the liberal media or snorted the cocaine of the talkradio world. But.....as you said "I will crow like nobodies business if proved right. If proved wrong, I will take my medicine then" I will take you at your word.
But then again, you promised no more vanities on 10.20.2005

This is Pukin Dog's last vanity post.
Seriously, the only words and predictions that matter is the final tally the first Tuesday of the first full week in November. 2 posted on 10/20/2005 1:16:58 PM PDT by Pukin Dog (Sans Reproache)

Excellent essay, and one that needed to be said!
I want to take the liberty of adding to it with my own thoughts about the current situation. For 5 years now George Walker Bush has campaigned for congressmen and senators, helped them with issues important to their home states, stood as a courageous leader in the War on Terror, and fulfilled campaign promises which gave Republicans their largest gains in many, many years.
In return, since the media and the Rats started in with their all-out assault over Katrina, continuing with the Meiers flapdoodle, the NSA leak, and now this port issue, I have seen a bevy of so-called conservatives and pundits jumping on the Bush-bashing bandwagon.
To all who couldn't wait until the winds died down to blame the President personally for the Katrina disaster, to all who used the nomination of Harriet Meiers to throw insults and invective at the President and then crow about her withdrawal, to all who wanted "investigations" over the NSA program (and not the leaks), to those who are doing shallow knee-jerk responses to the Dubai port terminal lease contracts, to ALL of you pundits and congressmen and senators:
You are cowards and/or opportunists. You expected President Bush to campaign for you, but you give him not one whit of loyalty in return. You choose to air your differences in the media causing further demoralization of the grass roots and comfort to our enemies. I consider you worthless, and if I am forced to choose, I choose to stand with the President. FURTHERMORE, ANY SO-CALLED REPUBLICAN WHO ALLOWS HIMSELF TO BE STAMPEDED BY THE DEMOCRATS AND THE MEDIA DOES NOT HAVE THE LEADERSHIP QUALITIES REQUIRED FOR THE PRESIDENCY, THE VICE PRESIDENCY, NOR ANY CABINET OFFICE IN A FUTURE REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION. I can't make myself more clear.
I have already compiled a very large "do not buy their books or magazines" list and a pretty large "do not support in the presidential primary" list. I hope it doesn't grow much bigger.

ROTFLMAO! Is that all you got? Yeah, I said it. I was wrong. You ever been wrong? No, of course not. LOL. Hey, how about another opus next week? How long do you think that will stick? One thing you wont see is another prediction about what I will do, that is for sure. Oops! I just did it again! I cant stop myself!

Oh, but you see, all those disloyal Republicans will be back on board soon. They just need Bush to give them a reason, which should happen soon. The only ones talking now are those who think they cant lose, like Duncan Hunter. He wont lose in this neck of the woods. But those in marginal races will be begging for assistance shortly, starting with Santorum and half of the Ohio contingent. Bush has known these jokers long enough to understand that they are just running for cover right now. They will be back. Bush wont hold a grudge either. They have work to do together.

Oh, I'm sure he will take them back and work with them, and probably even campaign for them, which is why he is a leader worth following, while if I were in his position I would be tempted to say "tough toenails."
HOWEVER, I am still not buying any of the whiners' books, and I am using these little crises to let me assess the leadership capabilities of potential candidates. I will, of course, support whoever the Republican nominee is. I will NOT support any of these weasels in the primaries.
And now, PD, I have to go lie down. I have the flu (going on 4 days now) and am getting lightheaded again. I may be back later tonight if I feel better.
