Transsexuals can choose jails 05/03/2006 18:29 - (SA)
Madrid - Transsexual inmates in Spain soon will be able to serve their sentences in facilities for men or women according to their "psycho-social identity", and not according to their original gender, reported the El Pais newspaper on Sunday. According to the centre-left daily, a directive is about to be published concerning the incarceration of individuals who have undergone a sex change. Transsexuals would be able to ask to serve their sentences in prisons corresponding to their new gender, and prison authorities also would address them by their preferred name, according to the report. Prison officials would conduct an inquiry to confirm the sexual identity of the prisoner, notably by requiring the inmate to show proof of having started the sex change at least one year before being jailed. Mercedes Gallizo, the director-general of Spain's prison administration, had already expressed her desire to make these changes in the prison system. Spanish prisons house about 40 female transsexuals, who were formerly men, but no cases of the opposite sex change, according to the newspaper. |

The Muslims are going to win over there.Indeed, although one may also argue that they have already won, as evidenced by Spain's capitulation in the war on terror.
Putting criminals in charge of their own destiny, in large measure, further erodes Spain's status as any sort of a nation that takes its own criminal laws seriously. Terrorists watching world events will see Spain as a weakling in the world. Terrorists, being cowards, eagerly exploit perceived weaknesses.

Another one.
Just tell me to stop if it's too much.
I'm trying to get out of what I should be doing by sneaking onto FR.
I'm sure neither of you has ever done that.

Seems like Spaniards are confused.

Seems like Spaniards are confused.Right off the top of my head I don't recall what policy regarding transsexuals exists in US or UK prisons, but I have no doubt that if the Left were to have it's way there would be an identical policy to Spain's here in America.

"The Muslims are going to win over there"
May not, if the female transsexuals who used to be woman but now are men will get equal treatment and have to spend time in the mens cells.
In this case the Muslim men will fear of going to prison where they would be treated equally to those whom they perceive as females, and thus would be too afraid of committing crimes .
