***sigh*** I know
Not the official record, but I've liked this article covering the myths and realities of Katrina, along with recommendations on what to do now, from Popular Mechanics
Now What? The Lessons of Katrina There's a good discussion of it on FR here.
And CNN has a good timeline, though it's not hour by hour, at their special Katrina interactive web site
Had to laugh over the Juan Williams got-cha this morning. Juan tried to imply FL did well because the governor is President Bush's brother. Such a comment only highlighted his disconnect from reality and biased partisansip.
admit=amid - spell checker not my friend LOL
Prayers for you father, snugs....and for you. Bless your heart, you have been through a lot, and yet you contribute so selflessly here on FR.
Thank you for that snugs, but you also need to take care of yourself.
That is a wonderful picture of you Dad...nice looking man!
That's what happens when men turn metrasexual. They not only go weak in the groin, but body and mind also hehe
OB
Sending prayers across the Atlantic for your dad's medical tests tomorrow snugs. Your contributions to FR are outstanding snugs and we thank you for it. ;o)
"Have you seen phsstpok's Saturday Pre-View thread for the Sunday talk shows???
He goes to great lengths to list the guests and topics for each show, and giving links that are pertinent."
Hi Sleuth,
Yes, I have seen it and usually post there - - it's a WONDERUL thread and, I'm sure a lot of work for Phsstpok!
Didn't get to it yesterday though as we were having a HUGH family party for my Aunt and Uncle's Wedding Anniversary and left in the a.m. to go to my sister's to help prepare some food for the party. Didn't get home until about 11 - so am dragging a little today - LOL!
Phsstpok: Isn't your surgery tomorrow or Tues? Thoughts and prayers that all goes well!
Sounds like it will be another great dose - I'm looking forward to seeing it! Thanks again for all the many things you do for FR - - it is greatly appreciated by many of us!!
Found Wolfstar's excellent timeline on Katrina

None of the "reporting" about the NSA story was accurate. I know lots of people who have worked, and some who still work at NSA and there is tremendous oversight there. Besides, like you said, the President has the authority to order that surveillance and nothing short of an amendement to the Constitution can take that away. This has been total politics since Day 1. I think the MSM is scared to death of all the "leaks" investigation going on out there and every story that comes out has to be analyzed with that at the forefront of everyone's mind. If we do that, we might be able to see through the murk and slime.
Thanks
Snugs,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your Dad. Thank you for sharing the picture - he looks like such a sweet, kind person. And, since you are, I suspect he is, too.
Best,
SC
Thanks

What happened on the Sunday Morning Talk Shows By: Mark Kilmer · Section: Other Politics
March 5, 2006This week is in the can. (A Hollywood term in honor of the still-hyped Academy awards.)
On NBC's Meet the Press, Joint Chiefs Chairman General Peter Pace, USMC, said: "I wouldn't put a great big smiley face on it, but I'd say [things] are going very, very well" in Iraq. Russert reminded him that Ibrahim al-Jaafari reads Noam Chomsky, and Pace quipped that he hoped Jaafari had more books on his nightstand. Later, on CBS's Face the Nation, Bob Schieffer (or his producers) truncated the generals statement simply to "very, very well," eliminating the qualifiers and making the General appear unrealistically Pollyannaish. Jack Kemp on MTP suggested a "Marshall Plan" for the countries which would destroy us, to give them jobs and a sense of hope. He also suggested a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq.
Same show, same segment, John Edwards said that now that the 2004 election is over, he is free to tell the world that he thought he blew it when he voted for the invasion of Iraq.
Michael Brown, on FNS, said that Mike Chertoff should not have gotten in his way when he was trying to react to Katrina. Tom Ridge was smart, he said, in that he let Chertoff run with the response to the Florida hurricanes.
Jack Murtha FTN called Joint Chiefs Chairman General Peter Pace, USMC, a liar. Next segment, Schieffer asked Dick Lugar if he agreed.
On LE, DP Ports World CEO Mohammed Sharaf acted like he were a businessman doing business. The bottom line. Asked about the UAE's declaration of enmity for Israel, Sharaf said he does business with Israel's Zim Shipping all the time. No big deal. Chuckie Schumer, next segment, called this "poppycock" and argued that Sharaf "doesn't know the business."
Duncan Hunter on TW raved about a Nazi conspiracy with Dubai to ship heavy water for nukes to the PRC. All sorts of secret stuff about which the President must not have been briefed. Susie Collins might have been made nervous by such banter. She said she wants to review the deal, and she applauded the President for the 45 days.

Yup! Started with this guy....
You can see the necessity of his loot, too.
I read that Friedman article and thought is was fantastic. He outlined and put forth in a kind of rant all the info that we freepers have been learning for years about the atrocities perpetrated by Democrats in Power. I sent that Rant to several people that are great at Editorial Page writing and sending info like that to friends and family that will send it around the Blogosphere. All of the People here on Freerepublic that have read it have been blown away by all that he included in one rant. He summed up so much in one Editorial comment and he did not hold back on much of anything. It was the most honest, genuine, informative, succinct Editorial I have ever read. Yes it is very long, and yes warn those friends and Family members you send it to that it is very long but worth the time and effort it takes to read it. It really has you pumping your fist and yelling "Right on!". This is something that Rush needs to read right on the air.
It's just more nonsense.
Have been to a few rodeo's and observed what a tough and fearless lot those riders are, am sure GW and Cheney have seen a few rodeo's themselves. Saw one young man exit the ring after a wild ride with a big hoofprint on his face, he couldn't have cared less.
Prayers for your dear dad.
