Now go back and read your link. Turkey maybe more stable then other Muslin nations in the ME, but its not a stable secular nation. Muslim 99.8% (mostly Sunni), other 0.2% (mostly Christians and Jews)

>>>> Modern Turkey was founded in 1923 .... Turkish political parties have multiplied, but democracy has been fractured by periods of instability and intermittent military coups (1960, 1971, 1980), which in each case eventually resulted in a return of political power to civilians. In 1997, the military again helped engineer the ouster - popularly dubbed a "post-modern coup" - of the then Islamic-oriented government.

So, for a while Turkey is under military rule. Then for a while its under Islamic rule. How stable is that? In my book, not stable at all. Next you'll be calling Saudi Arabia a stalwart of democracy in the ME. LOL

I like how you read only what you want to read... How about the FACT they are in NATO, and will probably join the UE a some point? Not to mention they have had democracy even after periods of military coups.
