They even chased down one of our ambulances carrying wounded soldiers to the battalion aid station and wrote the driver a ticket.

Seems like a ranking officer in your command should have had the balls to put a stop to that once and for all.

We all laughed about it when it happened, because we were sure it would be taken care of by a phone call. After our company commander failed in his attempt to take care of it, the Brigade surgeon made a couple of phone calls. Next our battalion Sgt Major made a light hearted attempt. The battalion commander was more of a politician and a suck up than he was a leader of men (I don't know for fact, but rumor has it he squats when he pees). He was afraid to go complaining to the general,, since the speed limit was the general's idea. So the ticket didn't get thrown out like it should have.

You remind me of the story of General Patton receving a speeding ticket during the Louisian Maneuvers. Patton refused the ticket until the commanding officer of the Maneuvers forced him to accept the ticket.
