WIGGINS, Colo. -- Three coaches at Wiggins High School have reportedly been suspended after one of them allegedly taped a student to a weightlifting bench for several hours as punishment for disruptive behavior, according to a broadcast report.
A coach with 30-years experience used athletic tape to restrain the 13-year-old boy, covering his eyes, mouth and whole body, according to the boy's mother Stacy Robinson. Coaches refused to untie the boy even after he urinated on himself, she said.
"(I'm) very angry, there is no excuse for this," said Robinson.
A coach who allegedly tied the boy and two other coaches who witnessed the incident have been suspended with pay, according to Wiggins school Superintendent Sharol Little.
"For this to happen is hard for all of us, so I guess I want to give some certainty and assurance to our parents that we're doing all we can with the facts that we have to make sure that it doesn't happen again," she said.
At least 60 people witnesses the incident.
"You always here stuff on TV about things like this happening to kids and you think there has got to be another side to this story, this kid has to be horrible for something like that to happen, the coach just snapped, that wasn't the case here," Robinson said.
You think this is simple justice? Get a grip.
That's what they have tasers for. Tase him, hook him up and club him a few times so he can't hurt anyone. If he keeps moving, have everyone kick him until he is no longer a danger.
So...the mother says. In fact, "the case here" is that he is that this one is HER SON.
"You think this is simple justice? Get a grip."
I'm afraid you've entered the world of retribution here in this thread. There are some folks who think that unruly children should be punished severely and often. They think it "builds character" or some such nonsense.
My question to them is why they think some public school teacher is the one to apply such "character building." Around here, most folks seem to think that all public school teachers are communists without the good sense to use the toilet for their excretory function.
Yet, they're blaming some 13-year-old kid for this assault by a public school teacher.
So the coach covered the boy's mouth and eyes for protection?
Unless the boy could shoot lazer beams out of his eyes or spit deadly, poisonous venom at his attackers, the coach was REALLY out of line.
uhhh they were suspended with pay.
Those who think they can, don't have the guts to teach.
;-D JUST KIDDING!!!!!
Ten years ago this wouldn't have been an outrageous event. Twenty years ago it wouldn't have even been remarkable.
Ahhh, the wussification of America.
Now there's a leap to another area you might want to reconsider going.
Does it not sound strange to any of yall that this could happen, with 2 other teachers witnessing? All you have is a mother complaining about how her child with behavior problems was treated. I'm just saying, give the coach a trial before you hang him.
"A coach who allegedly tied the boy and two other coaches who witnessed the incident have been suspended with pay"
Yeah, no kidding! In the working world we call that a vacation.
You would applaud this being done to your kid? What behavior would he have had to exhibited in order to justify this?
I'll state this saying up front that I believe in corporal punishment and have no hesitation about popping my kids' rear ends when they merit it (which with two boys, ages 8 and 11, is more often than I'd like), and my kids attend a private Christian school where we have to give the school signed permission at the start of the year to use coropral punishment if it's deemed necessary (and it's never been deemed necessary for my kids and in fact is rarely if ever used in that school) ... but if a coach, or teacher, did THIS to one of my children, for ANY reason, it would take all the willpower I could summon up for the district attorney in our county to be prosecuting a case of assault, with me as the defendant.
Your kind of thread....
The whole point is, there is no acceptable explanation for this.
'scuse me, got in a hurry, for the DA to "NOT" be prosecuting ...
