The same love for God and neighbor that compels us to preach salvation through Jesus Christ, protect the unborn, preserve the family and the sanctity of marriage, and take the whole Gospel to a hurting world, also compels us to recognize that human-induced climate change is a serious Christian issue requiring action now.

The implication President Bush doesn't care about the environment--and indeed that conservatives generally don't care about the world is ridiculous. These so-called "leaders" think we need them to teach us about how to care for the world's climate?? They obviously have too much time on their hands.
Lately I've taken to telling these people that regarding global warming, I grew up in Minnesota, so I favor it.
So, is this group affiliated in any way with the World Council of Churches? I'll bet they are. This climate change tripe is nothing more than an excuse to justify socialism.
Stewarding and having dominion over the earth, the true Biblical mandate, is way different than the control freak vision of the environmental movement.
What was that proverb in the Bible of "my sheep will know me". I don't "know" those enviro-vangelists.
I found it interesting that they didn't provide a list of members or organizations. They provided a method of contact (email) but that doesn't tell anyone anything.

That's a bit strong. It's ABC's headline, story, implication and anti-Bush spin. I could only watch bits of the TV ad due to limited bandwidth, which is what this story is all about. It freatures a clip of Rick Warren (The Purpose Driven Life) and I could find no reference in the ad itself to the Bush administration implied or otherwise.
Not so with the ABC commentary, though, which is to be expected.

Global Warming, like Endangered Species, and EPA, and Wetlands is all and only about getting total control of the economy and all resources and eliminating private property, all for the benefit of a New Enlightened State ruled by bureaucrats in equity and fairness and equality for all the ruled. This is all about a regression to middle ages social systems whith the bulk of the remaining population living in bare subsistence conditions tied to locations and the rulers, because they must have sufficient resources to carry out their duties and stay healthy, living in strongly protected Gated Communities atransported by large vehicles with Drivers. They may even put moats around their Gated Communities. The Mohammedans are aiming for the same sort of world but they are looking farther back in time. Leftists kind of admire them because they are several centuries purer than liberals.
I have heard the ad and it and discussion about it are designed to promote the impression that this is evangelicals just like the folks who support Israel and demosnstrate in front of abortion facilities. But,rather, they are the same leftist apostates-in-all-but the-name Episcopalians and Methodists, etc. that exist only to promote the Socialist Gospel. They wewe all for Banning The Bomb in the Cold War days and now gay marriage and abortion, too.
Is this an attempt to package thier "product" so that they think they will appeal to a wider group? Maybe they are sincere but probably they do not know what they are talking about.
These guys never "broke" with any Bush policy. They are liberal God-is-Dead social clubs with names that are reminiscent of when their "churches" were once something like actually evangelical long long ago.
There was an article in Science about this. They named Richard Cizik (National Association of Evangelicals), the president of Wheaton College, and Rick Warren.
I'm not an evangelical so I don't know how mainstream this is.
Mostly they are sincere socialists. Sincerity for a socialist does not have quite the implications that it has for other folks.
Preaching about the environment is so much more populr than bringing up touchy subjects such as the divorce rate in their flocks or the increasing number of parishoners who are shacking up without being married at all.
Rick Warren, huh? At best, he's putting this out as a way to attract a wider group of people to church. Environazis need Jesus too!

Well, it does remind me of the social gospel that main line churches championed in the past and at the root is the same foundation, in my opinion, and it isn't the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The main line churches have continued the drift away from the centrality of the Gospel and look where many of them are today.
Wheaton College is pretty mainstream evangelical, and so is Rick Warren...well, aside from a few ultras on this board who think he is closer to hell than heaven.
Well that's unfortunate....another quote from the Science article.
'This month, 86 influential leaders in the U.S. Christian evangelical movement came out for "national legislation requiring … economy-wide reductions" in carbon emissions. Quoting the Bible on the need to protect God's creation, the statement says that climate shifts "will hit the poor the hardest."
These people have a funny way of helping the poor.
I agree. Quite sorry that the evangelicals are dipping into this nonsense.
