You really have to be careful with these blanket statements because it only takes one case to the contrary to disprove them.

I'm trying to remember when Buddhism renounced the privilege of kicking around the state (when it can), and Shinto was a state religion not too recently ~ caused all sorts of problems too.
As far as Billzo being a "paid agent", and that being news, I'd encourage you to note that he was always a "paid agent" and did not recently abandon being one.
I think that would be more accurate if you said Christians support the separation between ONE church and state. They certainly don't support the total separation of Christian morals and values from the state.

The current management doesn't really care much about religion, IMHO. Tends to make the koolaid wear off. Think they'd rather just do away with the whole concept, but they haven't quite gotten that pesky 2nd Law of Thermodynamics out of the way yet.
