Slavery was wrong of course but that doesn't erase the fact that slaves were very close to their masters and vice versa.

The every popular "Slavery was wrong but..." arguement. In then end you all seem to do your best to show that you thought that slavery was, in fact, right.

Huh? Now we want to revert back to slavery? You're using my modifying clause to attack me. The subject of the sentence is the relationship that existed between master and slave. It was rarely whips and chains.

My gripe with you guys is the myth you want to promote that there was some fundamental difference between the North and the South over the morality of slavery. The difference was the economics of it.
