This is crap.
We don't need more hearings. We don't need more hand-wringing. We don't need more debate.
As a result of a 2004 bill that Bush signed, we were supposed to get 10,000 more BP agents on the border. But his 2006 budget only funded a couple hundred of those positions.
So we don't have more agents in the pipeline. So we need National Guard troops. NOW. In force. With orders to use lethal force against any armed groups coming over the border. That would stop that problem immediately - these goons are acting with impunity because there is no force to counter them.

Hey here is an idea a friend of mine had and shared with me. Use all the illegals that have been captured by the Border Patrol to build the wall. Put them up in moving temp barracks. Any that run away are permanently barred from entry to the US. When caught, they are returned to Mexico after a hard labor tour with no pay. Those that finish the effort, put them at the top of the line for a guest worker program.
Also, arrange to have a Navy or Marine base say down near Cancun, all returning illegals would be take there via military transport and sent out the front gate.

When another country sends their military across our borders, our military needs to respond. Thats an act of war, and the response should be overwhelming force so they dont try it again.

Do we have to wait until there is a massive gun battle between the Mexican Army and the Border Patrol which the BP will lose because the MA has superior firepower?

Mexico has been a Narco-State for years now. There is no Civil government in the classic sense of the word. The drug lords are the real power in the country and the politicians and bureaucrats all dance to their tune. CLOSE THE DAMNED BORDER NOW!!

Cardinal Roger Mahony talks to his parishioners about immigration reform during Ash Wednesday service at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, Wednesday, March 1, 2006. Feinstein asked the witnesses what was needed from the federal government to ensure the safety of the border. How long have you been an elected official of this state dear?
