Taking disaster relief lessons from a compassionate conservative.

The year 1887 was a tough year in Texas. Day after day brought hot, dry winds that parched the land. Farmers saw their crops wither and their cattle grow weak from thirst. Spirits faltered as desperate Texans prayed for rain, seemingly to no avail. Eager to help (at least with other peoples money), congressmen pushed through a bill to provide federal aid in the form of seed, but one man stood in their way Americas 22nd president, Grover Cleveland. At a time when the federal budget boasted a large surplus, he vetoed the bill.

Grover Cleveland was a wonderful President, and the last good Democrat to hold that office.

rellimpank, in the category of things you probably don't want to hear, the portion of Grover Cleveland's cancerous jaw that was removed in a secret operation while he was President is among the many bizarre things on display at the Mutter Medical Museum in Philadelphia.
Also, when C-SPAN was doing its great series on American Presidents back in the late 90s, the episode on Cleveland featured an interview with his grandson, who is a ringer for him and plays it up by wearing his hair and mustache in the same style as his grandfather.
Now there is a typical political response. The land was dry as a bone and being blown away from lack of rain and those clowns want to send seed.
