omething had been bothering me ever since I first heard miss hillary's voucher rant. The whiff of racism was undeniable, but it seemed to exceed the actual words.

Well, FReeper 2 Kool 2 Be 4-Gotten has nailed it.

Miss-hillary-of-the-plantation delivered her rant in the form and cadence of an ethnic joke. (And we all know that hillary clinton has had considerable practice doing ethnic jokes.... And slurs.)

 

 

What's going on here is somewhat clear to me.

First of all I have a liberal aunt/uncle pair who have been in education as well as other liberal causes their entire lives. I can vividly recall being in their house about 3 years ago or so, and they made this exact argument to me i.e. we can't have vouchers because they might be used to send someone to a KKK school or whatever. So this "argument" has clearly been floating around in education circles for a reasonably long period of time and is probably routinely pulled out and dusted off when need be. Missus clinton probably heard this argument and decided to use it making it sound like she had thought it up.

What is more curious to me is her delivery. It is told in the exact same format as you might tell an ethnic joke. If you go back an listen, some of the internal cadences resemble an ethnic joke. She's making a policy argument but the rhythm, the cadences, the sonata form is as if she were saying "Catholic, Jew, White Supremacist and Jihadist walk into a bar".

Usally these jokes are told with 3 examples, the first two for the setup, and the last one for the punchline. In her case she has 2 setup and 2 punchline. Which has its own disconcerting effect as we're not used to 2 punchlines!

[NOTE: Two punchlines because missus clinton has two target demographic groups--blacks and white women.-- Mia T]

But again, this is yet another demonstration of her political tone deafness--this is not the cadence of political speech-- this is the cadence of someone telling a bad ethnic joke and one in which the audience just wishes they were somewhere else.

One gets the feeling that she tells a lot of these jokes, tells them poorly, but woe be unto Those Who Will Not Laugh.

Blatant hypocrisies, silly non sequiturs and dangerous lies make it easy to miss the underlying machinations.

So put aside for a moment Chelsea's private-school education at Sidwell Friends and Stanford... put aside standard issue clinton race-hate politics. Put them aside, for now.

Ironically, the logic of this pronouncement by Martin Luther King would, in short order, be refuted by the reality of his own lynching. King's hope was misplaced and his reasoning was circular. The resultant rule of law relied on by King presumed an adherence to the rule of law in the first instance.

Adherence to the rule of law is not something normally associated with the clintons. Moreover, racial and ethnic disrespect, intimidation, exploitation and hate have always been a fundamental clinton tactic and the reflexive use the "N"-word and other racial and ethnic slurs, an essential element in the clinton lexicon. When the "first black president" and his wife ran Arkansas, the NAACP sued them for intimidating black voters at the polls.

Focus instead on the underlying machinations....

Missus clinton was speaking to the South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation, (SoBRO), an organization that has taken on the formidable challenge of rebuilding a community whose name alone 'evokes images of burned out buildings, crime, poverty, and drugs.' (NB: Thirty-nine percent of the South Bronx is Black and 60% is Hispanic. Thirty-nine percent live below the poverty level.)

Capitalist sensibilities and faith-based initiatives drive SoBRO. This is precisely the kind of group that would be sympathetic to vouchers. (And to Republicans!)

So what does demagogue hillary do?

What else? She vulgarizes vouchers. She conflates vouchers with lynchings... and beheadings... and anti-Semitism and anti-Catholicism for good measure. In fact, given all the possible combinations and permutations of conflations actual, hypothetical and fantastical, bigots of every stripe can find something to savor in missus clinton's demagogic anti-voucher rant.

In the immediate aftermath of the 2004 presidential election, a journalistic consensus emerged to explain George W. Bush's victory. Despite the sluggish economy and deteriorating situation in Iraq, voters supported Bush primarily because of his values. One prominently featured exit poll question showed "moral values" to be the most important issue for voters, ahead of terrorism, Iraq, and the economy. Backlash against the Massachusetts court ruling allowing gay marriage and attraction of Bush's appeals to Christian faith helped bring out socially conservative voters and cement Bush's second term. This explains why Bush won Ohio, for example, where an anti-gay marriage proposal was on the ballot. However compelling this story might be, it is wrong.

Instead, Bush won because married and white women increased their support for the Republican ticket....

In this article I briefly account for the factors behind Bush's rise in the state-by-state popular vote between 2000 and 2004. This is not the same as identifying who elected Bush. That sort of analysis would put responsibility on white men since they voted 61-38 for Bush and comprise almost half of the active electorate. Instead, I focus on what changed between 2000 and 2004. In this view, it is white women who are responsible because they showed more aggregate change.

Identifying a cause for this shift looks for an explanation also in things that changed in the past four years. For example, John Kerry was not exactly Al Gore, so differences between Bush's two opponents could be a factor. But I suggest that such differences are dwarfed by a much larger intervention: the attacks of September 11. Turnout was up in 2004 because the perceived heightening of the stakes after 9-11 and because of intense competition between the candidates in a small number of battleground states. Higher turnout also appears to have helped Bush slightly. But it was the shift of married white women from the Democratic camp to the Republican camp that gave him the edge in 2004.

People who are uninformed, might not be able to grasp that Hillary is indeed dangerous. Connie London expresses her disgust, and that's a darn good start.

I think the majority of NO should be rebuilt, but it shouldn't be done by the current crop of LA politicians. New Orleans is historical, and the city will always be home to those who left, probably never to come back, but it will always be home. These people know that they were not represented by the people they probably elected, ie: Nagin, Blanco, Landrieu, etc. Crooks frittered away government money instead of attempting to prevent damage that everyone knew was going to happen, sooner or later. NO has dodged so many deadly hurricanes, that the state should have been actively preparing for the inevitable. The residents know this. They may not talk about it publicly, but they know. Connie London has the courage to speak out.

Hillary once again plays the race card, but this is 2006. People want off the damn plantation already! This is something that conservative politicians need to address. They need to pound it into those that are still under the impression that people like Hillary have their best interests at heart. This is a golden opportunity to help our fellow Americans, and I hope we don't blow it.

Miss hillary's 'plantation' metaphor, ostensibly about Bush and the Republicans, is really about the clintons and Katrina and New Orleans and the Democratic Party. (The Left generally, and the clintons, in particular, are notoriously projectional.)

Katrina has opened the eyes of the poor -- mostly black -- underclass, the Left's absolutely essential -- and until now, captive -- constituency.

The clintons and the Left are terrified that these poor people will finally see what has been before them for 60 years: Not only a failed idea, but a party whose power depends on perpetuating that failure.

The clintons and the Left are terrified that these people will finally see the modern Democratic party for what it is: a bunch of bitter, self-serving, moribund, power-hungry, dangerous elistists whose very existence depends keeping them dirt poor, disinformed and dependent.... This, in contrast to a Republican party whose power depends on their education, self-sufficiency and success.

Indeed, the people are already seeing.

Finally, why the shameless "culture of corruption" harangue? Its tactical purpose was diversionary. Miss hillary had no politically helpful answer to the question, ("Why did you vote for the war?"), having previously staked out Iraqi territory apparently populated by no one.

But "culture of corruption" also served a broader, strategic function: the inflation of the clinton legacy. Downward revision ("defining deviancy down") is the classic clinton m.o., (see Jefferson double-helix hoax), (although clinton, exposed, will often argue the obverse: the double negative offers the illusion of higher ground.)

Posthumous misappropriation, for obvious reasons the clintons' preferred method of legacy inflation, was unavailable. Not a problem. Miss hillary will take whatever she can get.

Yesterday, Daniel Patrick Moynihan died. Today, the clintons are arrogating his soul. Hardly surprising. In 1999, the clintons were not at all shy about seizing his still-warm senate seat.

One has merely to recall the Jefferson double-helix hoax to understand that posthumous misappropriation is, for the obvious reason, the clintons' preferred method of legacy inflation….

I... underestimated the propensity of my people for narrow-mindedness and self-destruction (the Jewish vote for Mrs. Clinton was about 70%)....

It is no accident--and the Sheehy hagiography notwithstanding, it is certainly not because of any patriarchal society--that this reflexive kleptocrat never sought office.

She never ran simply because she is a perfectionist and an incompetent who cannot tolerate personal (as opposed to bill-related) criticism, witness the prescreened, heavily controlled, sycophantic crowds, her pre-programmed, totally scripted appearances (or, alternatively, her totally mute "listening tour"), her unavailability to the press, indeed, her "bluebird."

My two cents' worth--and I think it is the two cents' worth of everybody who worked for the Clinton Administration health care reform effort of 1993-1994--is that Hillary Rodham Clinton needs to be kept very far away from the White House for the rest of her life. Heading up health-care reform was the only major administrative job she has ever tried to do. And she was a complete flop at it. She had neither the grasp of policy substance, the managerial skills, nor the political smarts to do the job she was then given. And she wasn't smart enough to realize that she was in over her head and had to get out of the Health Care Czar role quickly.... there is no reason to think that she would be anything but an abysmal president.

With all the neutered talk of late

I thought y'all would appreciate

a relevant Shakespearean conversation

with EZ, a clinton chronicler Elizabethan.

 

[I had just asked the playwright if he had writer's block.]

 

 

EZ:

Think that thy bard hath now MacJeff forsaken?

In that would'st thou be verily mistaken.

Mayhap thou hast impatiently forgot

That facts comprise the essence of the plot.

 

 

MIA T:

Methinks thy bard hath schemes forsaken.

Mayhap thou art verily mistaken.

Plots comprise the essence of the facts.

Forsake the contrariwise artifacts.

 

 

EZ:

Gadzooks, could'st be thy bard is put to rout?

'Twould seem his veriest words are turned about.

Could'st show whereby effect doth flow from cause,

Would'st then be due a round of brisk applause.

 

Perhaps I could this point of view adopt,

For was not Bill by Hillary thus bopped

In like wise as MacJeff, upon the head,

And with a lamp, just as thy bard hath said?

 

Thus are the facts revealed for all to see:

Thy bard did make good use of ESP.

Contrariwise, the White House read my serial,

And sought to make good use of the material.

The second bop was truly a repeat.

In consequence, I need no psychic hotline

To reconstruct an oft repeated plotline.

 

Now, as regards the wretched Cheapside brat,

And turmoil his concupiscence begat,

Need'st have no fear regards unfolding strife

O'er these events, for Art must copy Life.

Eureka! (Not Gadzooks!)

Though I have neither wit, nor words, nor playbooks

Thy bard this simpleminded poster avoidth plagiarize.

(Withal thy bard's own baseborn tendency contrariwise.)

 

Now, as regards the wretched Cheapside brat,

And turmoil his concupiscence begat,

Methinks MacJeff's crook'd feelpolitik, the lasix death, his solipsistic sex

Mind you, Act I, scene 4 drips the odd bit of gore here and there.
