Downtown Overland Park is on fire. Sounds like about half of it is gutted. The fire is being seen from as far away as 50 miles. Source was an old cluttered art gallery.

"Downtown" OP starts at about 79th St, from Metcalf to the west. Santa Fe Trail Dr. runs thru there.

No, this was not Islamic terrorists.
It really gets old seeing every fire, explosion, building collapse, train wreck, plane crash, etc. blamed on terrorists.
Sometimes a fire is just a fire.

I'd say less than 2 miles from me....TV 'copters were hovering for quite a while. I heard it's an art gallery, they think everyone got out, and paints and what-not are burning pretty good.

Wow, you can feel the heat a whole 25 yards away?
More stupid reporting!!
You can feel the heat from my BBQ pit nearly that far.

I'm looking out my window to the west, where Kansas City would be, and I'm not seeing anything in the way of fire.

I zoomed in on your house and I think you left your iron on.

In 1978, there used to be a disco right next to the tower called "Bananas". Do you remember? Am I just old?

I was engaging in a bit of sardonic humor aimed at the knee-jerk wing here. Check my "tagline."
And yes, I find it as annoying as you do.

My misunderstanding then.
It does get old seeing everything from a car wreck to a plane crash blamed on terrorists. Way too many people on this forum see any and everything as a terrorist act.
I'm sure the real terrorists are just sitting back laughing knowing that they don't have to do anything in order for people to panic.

My favorite TROP knee-jerk thread occurred earlier this summer. Some poor bloke had the misfortune of being beheaded on a London street in broad daylight. Hours of, ahem, ethnically- and religiously-based speculation followed, until it was discovered that the event was the unfortunate culmination of a homsexual lover's quarrel. I'm sure even Mullah Omar had a laugh over that one.

Yeah, same for a gang rape that a woman said happened to her at Disney World.
Most of the thread was about blaming Muslims or Mexicans when it turns out the suspects were French.
