BCRA would have imposed felony punishment on Ross Perot's 1996 efforts to build the Reform Party. Compare Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 (FECA) §§309(d)(1)(A), 315(a)(1)(B), and 323(a)(1) (prohibiting, by up to five years. imprisonment, any individual from giving over $25,000 annually to a national party), with Spending By Perot, The Houston Chronicle, Dec. 13, 1996, p. 43 (reporting Perot.s $8 million founding contribution to the Reform Party).
They don't call it an incumbent protection plan for nothing. Wouldn't it be something if McCain was imprisoned because of his own legislation!
McCain will give the White House to Hillary, just like Perot gave it to Clintoon.
I do not think so. He would get more democrat votes than Republican, his views are much closer to theirs than ours. What Republican in his right mind would vote for this guy?
Barry was my guy, I remember that campaign when I was a young Democrat. My thought was this guy isn't that bad. But young and always 'true' to the Dems, they help the poor and average people you know'.
He was the guy that opened my eyes.
(The first to give his life for your liberty was a Black man!) Yes, not many people know that.
Do you know his name?
bump to me self
If McCain gets the Republican nomination, with lots of Democratic votes as you said, then Hillary is toast.
But what if it's Giuliani or George Allen? McCain's temper will surely drive him to run independent, and then that gigantic sucking sound will be Republicans for McCain, as they vote for Hillary without even knowing it.
What I was saying was if McCrazy runs as an independent I think he will pull more dem votes than Republican. I can not believe any true Republican could vote for him. Right now he is doing well only because of his name ID. As soon as people get to see what he is really about they will be turned off, except dimwitocrats.
I see your point, except to point out that those who vote for the independent usually claim that he appeals to purer principles or ideology, and is considered the `ideal' (e.g. McCain's `Straight Talk Express').
Reagan walked all over Carter in 1980, but how many votes were siphoned off by the mostly forgotten John Anderson?
Ross Perot boasted that he helped elect Clinton; his boast provoked an uproar which made him drop out of sight after 1992.
McCain is all about me, me, me. And that makes him dangerously unpredictable. He just might fool a few Republicans. Hillary is not the only makeover expert.
I believe it is.
Almost two years ago, but now he is the almost nominee.
