There is a thread with a press release from Howard Dean....saying what Kerry is...
They are like vultures swooping down on carcasses...like Wellstone's, Rosa Parks', Coretta King, and now Dana Reeve..
I don't have a problem with them talking about her and the work she did on stem cell research
But first let her family grieve and bury her in peace
Those kind of speaches can wait
Press Briefing on the President's Line-Item Veto Legislation
by OMB Director Josh Bolten - March 6, 2006
Dorgan is saying that the Dubai deal is a "takeover of 6 of our major ports." This just doesn't end.
Exactly....that is my point...we just found out this morning..
I don't even mind a press release expressing condolences...but, to bring up stem cell research TODAY...ghoulish.
BTW...are you listening to Dorgan...??
No .. I missed it
It's in the 40's today, so I went out to do some yard work
I can't wait till winter is finally over
It is in the high 70's here...and out Bradford Pear trees are blooming..
I wish we would have HAD a winter....sigh
I bought really neat sweatshirts for the whole family for Christmas, and since then, there has been exactly ONE day that was cold enough to wear them.
What state are you in??
I'm in PA .. outside of Philly
OH...okay.
I am sorta figuring out where my favorite freeper friends are in the US....it helps.
I guess you guys go the bulk of the winter weather this year...I am sorry to here that.
It's been a really mild winter .. so I can't complain
I just miss the sun and seeing my freckles
I look like snow white without them *L*
It's 46 outside here at the moment, but there is a stiff breeze, so it makes it feel colder though. Went outside to scrape off the ice on my walk. Most of the snow is gone, but the ground is still frozen solid, so the melted snow is more or less standing water on the front yard.
I'm in Big Sky Country of course. Four miles from Canada and 60 miles from the Montana/North Dakota border. :)
LOL....I can relate, sort of.....except MY freckles don't go away...they just fade, until the first time I spend more than an hour in the sun...
My father promised me, when I was a little girl, that my freckles would go away by the time I was 20, because his did..
MY FATHER LIED TO ME....LOL.
I had an aunt and uncle that lived in Montana...I just have to figure out where...I will let you know, when I figure it out...
I only went there once, but I was very young.
DEWINE, GRAHAM, HAGEL, AND SNOWE [Kathryn Jean Lopez]have evidently drafted a deal on NSA spying so the intel comte won't probe the program...

And, as the Post article details, the Republicans on the Senate Intelligence Committee who were depicted as having fallen passively into line apparently don't appreciate those reports and are eager to demonstrate otherwise:Snowe earlier had expressed concerns about the program's legality and civil liberties safeguards, but Card was adamant about restricting congressional oversight and control, said the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, citing office policies. Snowe seemed taken aback by Card's intransigence, and the call amounted to "a net step backward" for the White House, said a source outside Snowe's office.
Snowe contacted fellow committee Republican Chuck Hagel (Neb.), who also had voiced concerns about the program. They arranged a three-way phone conversation with Chairman Pat Roberts (R-Kan.).
Until then, Roberts apparently thought he had the votes to defeat Rockefeller's motion in the committee, which Republicans control nine to seven, the sources said. But Snowe and Hagel told the chairman that if he called up the motion, they would support it, assuring its passage, the sources said. . . . .
Hagel and Snowe declined interview requests after the meeting, but sources close to them say they bridle at suggestions that they buckled under administration heat. The White House must engage "in good-faith negotiations" with Congress, Snowe said in a statement.
Over the weekend, both Specter and even Pat Roberts made clear that they would not accept the only solution which the White House will even consider -- namely, the absurdly deferential DeWine proposal to exempt the NSA program from the requirements of FISA.

Ensign has CHARTS!!!
And look at all those red states
Hes talking about Senator Snow's bill and how it leaves out the red states
$10 says it's a bad deal
Depends on which side one takes, whether it's "bad." What it does show is that within the Senate Intelligence Committee, DEWINE, HAGEL, AND SNOWE have agreed to stay off the WH's back on this issue.
I'm not sure how GRAHAM fits in, except he was one of the more pushy participants when Specter had Gonzales in public hearings before the Judiciary Committee. The factions are still forming, and the direction of the Senate on this is far from clear.
