NEW DELHI - President Bush gets his first chance Wednesday to see the vast economic and social transformations that many say make India a key global partner for America.

Fords and Chevrolets now compete for space on the streets with auto-rickshaws; young men and women tap away at keyboards, writing software code for American companies. Since Bush took office in 2001, India and the U.S. have made dramatic steps toward forging a strategic partnership after decades of Cold War animosity, a growing closeness that’s based as much on trade as it is on politics.

But the U.S. still imports far more from India than it exports, and it’s clearly hoped that Bush’s visit, which ends Saturday, will help even out a U.S. trade deficit with India that nearly doubled to over $10 billion between 2001 and 2005.

Isn't the MSM great - the only picture they put up is that of a fringe, left-wing minority that has its undies in a wad about the war in Iraq.

Yep, I saw that too. They must really be saddened that Bush means to reduce their trade gravy train. Obviously they are not frightening that Iran will get an a-bomb.

What else are they planning to buy from us, other than planes and nuclear power plants?

"What else are they planning to buy from us, other than planes and nuclear power plants?"

They have about the same shopping list as China to spend our money.

Coke, Frito-lays, various P&G products, shoes, dish-washer, washer-dryer, refrigerator. And that's just my mother.

Everyone read this again and make sure it really says that Bush wants to reduce trade deficits.

By selling them nuclear fuel, jet fighters, radars and rocket launchers?

Good grief, the man has his head planted more deeply up his arse than I would've ever thought possible.

"They have about the same shopping list as China to spend our money."

Our money ? The money ceased to be ours once we traded it for goods and services. Sorry to disappoint, but that's how trade works.

"“Whether Hindu or Muslim, the people of India have gathered here to show our anger. We have only one message — killer Bush go home,” one of the speakers, Hindu politician Raj Babbar, told the crowd."

Raj Babbar a Hindu??!! WTF?
When did he convert to Hinduism?

Raj babbar has a muslim wife. And you know what he misses out on if he doesn't protest. A satisfied grin on his face every night is just for starters. Let us Indians take care of the Commies and the bearded clergy (a majority of the muslims dont even care for the wars, its just the #$@$ing clergy) for Mr. Bush. But make sure you load em Boeings, the latest F16s or whatever you have, some nice weaponry (yes thats one thing on our shopping list them reds in Beijing dont have). Not to mention rocket technology and nuclear supplies. We are your best bet in Asia, just prove to the majority of the middle class that this time, America is going to stand with us. Put us on the permanent seat in the Security council, and we'll buy whatever it is that you have to sell, and sell whatever it is that you'd like to buy (goods and services-wise) within an ethical and honorable framework.

This photograph from MSNBC looks like the work of photoshop. From the picture they dont exactly look like the kind of people would speak English or know who Bush is.

Amazing how fast India has wiped out illiteracy. Now even Adivasi women write good English!
