Chronology February 28, 1993 - At about 9:30 a.m. agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms attempt to execute arrest and search warrants against David KORESH and the Branch Davidian compound. Gunfire erupts. Four ATF agents are killed and 16 are wounded. An undetermined number of Davidians are killed and injured. Within a few hours, the FBI becomes the lead agency for resolving the standoff. Jeff JAMAR is named the on-site commander. By the afternoon, advance units of the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) arrive, and telephone conversations are under way between KORESH, Steve SCHNEIDER, and Wayne MARTIN on one side and the ATF's Jim CAVANAUGH and Waco Police Lt. Larry LYNCH on the other. KORESH discloses that he has been wounded in the hip and left wrist. KORESH is allowed to broadcast his religious teachings on Dallas radio KRLD and does a CNN telephone interview. Michael SCHROEDER, a Branch Davidian, is killed while he tries to return to the main building. Texas Rangers begin an investigation but are barred by the FBI from continuing. At about 5:30 p.m., JAMAR arrives at Waco and chooses Byron SAGE of the FBI as chief negotiator. President CLINTON follows events closely throughout the day.

Just a little tip for your thick numb skull... David Koresh went jogging every morning, well outside the compound fence. The fed could have nabbed him easily at many available moments. But they did not. They wanted to make a statement. And one hell of a statement they made. I for one do not believe in these secluded cults if you will, But, I am more content with those yahoo jack booted ATF agents getting killed at the first of the raids, than I am about the fed gassing and setting a building on fire that had women and children in it.
If you don't know what happened, go back in the bleachers and pipe down. You may learn something.
You should do your homework.
My pleasure. I'm still waiting for the Waco site to be given the same memorial that was given to the building in Oklahoma out of which the orders were transmitted to kill innocent American citizens exercising their constitutional rights on their private property.
To be fair, Ruby Ridge happened under Bush 41.
It doesn't minimalize this tragedy though.
Many are already Beyond The Fringe (at least The Government seems to think so.)
Disapproval of Reno, Clinton, BATF, FBI, etc. in this instance and others in no way indicates approval of Koresh or his followers. (Mandatory Disclaimer)
I knew it was the anniversary the other day, so I was actually waiting for someone to post. This guy uses the time to break his/her posting cherry, I say cool beans!! Got us another patriot joining the ranks...
Don't forget Elian Gonzales. A refugee from Cuba and entitled to status in this country. Nope. Kidnapped and sent back to Cuba. Under Clinton and Reno's watch.
A phone call by the local sheriff to David Koresh would have been effective - "David, come into town, we need to talk to you about some of your gun show stuff."
The sheriff himself has testified that David Koresh would have cooperated.
It's got a small church on the site of the main building. There's some guy acting as caretaker (maybe he owns the place) but he only came a few years ago. It's not the place that needs to be remembered so much as the actions.
As are most good Americans and as was Vince Foster. I don't know how true this is but I heard that Foster had verbalized his decision to quit as Chief Counsel to the President due to his distaste for the Clinton's after the Waco massacre. Unfortunately for Mr. Foster there was only one way the Clinton's could continue to trust him once he separated from their team.
All during the early day's of the drawn out Clinton regime. This was all just a late term abortion.
Bastards!
That was fun to watch. Do Family Ties trump the Gulf of Mexico?
I thought Ruby Ridge was before Clinton but looked it up and it says August of 1992.
Am I wrong?
Yes, I agree. Klintoon's and Josef Reno's SS at work.
My sentiments exactly!
Yes, another suicide.
