WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former Playmate of the Year Anna Nicole Smith got her U.S. Supreme Court hearing on Tuesday, when her lawyer argued she should collect millions of dollars she claims her late Texas oil tycoon husband had promised her.
At one point during the hour-long arguments, the 38-year old blond widow, dressed in black and sitting in the spectator section, became emotional and started crying, a witness and her lawyer said.
Smith, who formerly also has hosted her own reality television show, did not talk to the crush of reporters, photographers and camera crews when she entered and left the Supreme Court building.
The issue before the justices in the long-running legal battle is to review when federal courts can hear claims that are also involved in state probate hearings.
The justices seemed receptive to arguments by Smith's lawyer that federal courts have jurisdiction to consider her claims.
Smith was 26 when she married oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall in 1994. He was 89. They met three years earlier when she was working as a topless dancer in Houston.

Did they review her briefs?........
we need a toon of the "Scales of Justice" with silicone implants on them..
I don't care how stupid and whore-ish the rest of you may think she is. I'm formally offering to comfort Ms. Smith through this difficult and trying time.
Owl_Eagle(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
I hear it was quite moving.
Well the law-yeers are all making out well.
If I was 90 something that might mess with my mind a bit. I bet she wins.
I understand Justice Thomas asked her to bring him a Coke.
Who am I fooling. If I was any age that would mess with my mind.
LOL !
This is what is known as a "career case" for lawyers on both sides.
"During Anna's testimony she stated, "srexolim wo;ins topqw boolinhoujolj ldosuoj eodrlksl (grabs tissue) kewuoiusdf dsouleeo!"
LOL!
I didn't watch many episodes, but when I tuned in to her reality show, I laughed. It was so far out, it was funny. I thought she was hilarious. Now she's just back to being beautiful.
I guess I don't get it...can't she and the son just split the money, or does each of them want it all? Does anyone know if either received any $$$ yet?
She wants less than a third, he wants it all.
"She wants less than a third, he wants it all."
Thanks. That's too bad. Can you imagine the money he's already spent on lawyers? And he's 67....You'd think he'd be satisfied with even half the fortune. I just don't get how some people can be so greedy.
She was awarded 88 million and that's not enough? Married in 1994 and he died in 1995. I would say that 88 million is pretty good for one year of marriage.
Does anyone know if there was a (valid) will that spelled out a specific inheritance for her?
She acted bizaar when she was fat. The idea is to keep her occupied long enough so that there's is no time for a conversation.
