Why do you think they should???If all male humans are descended from Noah, where did the variation come from? The Y chromosome is the clearest and most unambiguous indicator of lineage. Except for mutations, which are rare, there are no changes or recombinations from father to son. Even the mutations are helpful in tracing linege, since they are inherited.
Not knowing this is one of the downsides of skipping sex-ed.

Do I remember correctly that they did trace one male lineage back to a common ancestor living at the time of Moses? Jews named Cohen (or variants)?
