As far as I know, Utah is not mandating that Creationism be taught in schools. So -- my point -- I would not want someone to oppose the Utah legisaltion because they oppose Creationism. There is a leap in there that is unwarranted.
I consider Evolution to be controversial. I think that is a public school is going to teach it, it is reasonable for the school to say "This is controversial and has been for decades. The majority of scientists are completely on board with this theory and have quite a lot of evidence which supports it. But even so, some people are not convinced. But, we did want you kids to know about Evolution, because modern science places a lot of emphasis on it. But keep in mind, this is not a proven fact."
