Doesn't matter - CBS isn't running for office in November, but the Republicans are. This is a direct result of the ports deal. I opined last week that this deal was a) wrong on its merits and b)a political stinker for the Republicans, but I was soundly attacked. To the inevitable snide comment that Bush can't run again, I merely point out that ALL republican House members and a fair number of Senate republicans are up for re-election this year. Bush is handing the congress to the Democrats over this stupid issue.
This whole ports issue is a manufactured story. Many foriegn countries own port facilities in the US and around the world I don't think the dems will be able to convert it into house or senate seats because they'll overplay thier hand and end up looking childish and petty. ( which they usually do )
