This whole thing reeks.
If Cheney steps aside early, it will be because he is smart enough to know that, in consideration of his health, he can serve the president better as a part-time, less official advisor.

Please no. I doubt this is true, but he is the greatest VP ever

I have believed for a long time that the VP would retire in order to give his replacement an opportunity to have an "incumbent" status on the ticket in 2008.

He's retiring *again*? Is this about Cheney or Roger Clemens?
My money is on Cheney serving as VP until January 20, 2009.

I take this with a wheelbarrow full of salt.

I am so tired of this useless rumor spread by two camps.
1) Democrats/Liberals that want a threat removed since they still dream of impeachment and replacing Cheney with Bush isn't want they want to happen.
2) Weak kneed spineless Reps/Conservatives that have no idea how this Government works, think they are smarter than they are, and don't trust the '08 election can be won without sticking in a new face in the VP slot for less than two years in a blatant polical ploy that would alienate more than it would attract.
Mark it---
Cheney leaves office in '09
Rummy leaves office in '09
G.W.B. will leave office in '09
This is reality.

failure to immediately tell the president of the accidental shooting of the vice president's hunting colleague earlier this month. Sheesh! This is total crap. No one cares about the accident. $hit happens.
If Cheney ever decides to leave early, it'll be to get the next president all set up, or for his own personal health reasons. It'll be up to Cheney himself to decide.
The press is nothing more than tabloid crap these days. Seriously.

Mr. Cheney would be persuaded to step down as he becomes an increasing political liability to President Bush. Total crap !!!!!
Dubya is not running for office.
