agree completely with your post #103. Sad though, that we have folks that accuse him of "selling out", "lying", "slobbering over Graham", etc. I guess disagreeing is just too much for some folks.
We really need for a few Middle East countries to move into this century. We can bomb them till the cows come home but unless they have interest in modern business, modern human rights, and working with others we will only have a revolving door to terrorist because they live in a different century.
Bingo on post #114.
Not the least of which is that th UAE is a trusted allie of ours in the WoT. Of course that's only the opinion of General Tommy Franks who Hannity used to say he admired. General Franks has endorsed this deal.
c'mon..is this really necessary? You have a beef with Sean's argument? Make the point. But the sniping is annoying and childish. I'm asking you very nicely to please not be disruptive.
I agree a close look will not hurt a darn thing. The UAE doesn't have a problem with anyone taking a closer look either. I would still like to see more discussion about why so many countries including our own have a hard time managing US ports.
He has Both defended GW's stand on an issue and opposed him, but he always remains respectful of the president.
People accuse him BOTH of being a shill for the Republican Party AND a shill for conservatism. So which is it?
That is okay...about Congress...except that I don't believe Congress can hold hearings anymore that don't turn into campaign commercials...
All the critters do is get in their digs and insults at President Bush...rather than try to actually find out the truth...at least that is the way the Katrina hearings did...and the way the ONE hearing on this..last week went.
However, if the contract is made public to the point that YOU can read it and check it out...and report to US...that would be what I hope would happen...
I trust you, much more than Congress on this subject, because you won't be trying to win votes in the process of investigating it.
Here is where I could see a bit of concern and it is not with US port security. I would be more concerned with all of the cargo they would have control of. More and more, you see foreign countries in control of BIG parts of our economic engine.
Going all the way back to Muhammed, this is how he won his initial battles. He destroyed the economic routes of his enemy.
LOL. Yep, they handled the drinking water for my sons base in Afghanistan. The use of sons as a plural was not a typo. I had two sons served out of the same base.
To continue saying this is about control of "ports" and "security" when, in fact, it is only about managing a commercial facility is a lie of omission...one done deliberately.
Sofa, a lot of the rhetoric has been over the top...there is no real reason for it among FRiends.
Unfortunately a lot of people have used opportunity to take their pet peeves out on others.
I imagine there are two military people, who both support this deal and call the UAE strong allies, who are reconsidering their relationship with Hannity...General Franks and Colonel North.
The good thing coming out of this is that the Dems rhetoric on the Patriot Act will have to change...
Can't really look tough on the ports and say you "Killed the Patriot Act" at the same time!
I'm sure General Franks and Colonel North are not the type to "reconsider a relationship" because of one instance of disagreement! Get a grip! Reasonable people can disagree on an issue and have an intelligent discussion without harming friendships! Pretty high threshold you have for your friends I would say!!
If people are concerned with the cargo they will control then people need to first lobby Congress and rebuid our Merchant Marine program. Then buy a ton of ships. UAE wealth depends on the HEalth of the Western World and China. There not going to jeopardize their countries standard of living over some kooky Islamic scheme
When I sell my book I'll buy steaks for everyone!
Thats true. YEah the Patriot act will take a back seat now or changing it will
No fast food, two banks and two liquor stores......that's about it!
Library open three days a week, part time.
A steak place would be heaven!
No sidewalks, no streetlights, just lots of deer accidents.
Okay, enough of my whining.
