Why not? Latin rhythm is fun, and a blast to dance to. I'm betting the athletes are enjoying dancing to Ricky Martin better than watching weird clowns and meaningless brides wander around.

FWIW ...

Expect a Fellini-esque close to the Torino Games

Updated Sat. Feb. 25 2006 11:39 PM ET

Associated Press

TURIN, Italy — For the Olympic grand finale, think Fellini. Picture 35,000 spectators sporting 35,000 red clown noses. Imagine original costumes from the Italian director's film The Clowns. Envision Italy's prime minister behind a mask representing angels and devils.

And, as a final surreal homage to the genius behind La Dolce Vita, throw in the singer behind La Vida Loca, Ricky Martin.
