And why is this Tom Brokaw thing on?
I wondered the same when I tuned in.
He will probably have an 800 number to order his book at the conclusion.

What a pathetic piece. They have a chance to honor a hero, and they make it into the typical hate America fest.

This is ridiculous.
I'm thinking of putting the Celebrity Fit Club marathon back on.

this story should have been in a special devoted to WWII, not stuck in at the beginning of the Olympics. It does seem out of place, doesn't it? NBC is using this soldier's story to kill time--he deserves better than that.

What? No more Curling for 4 years????
When I was a kid, we lived in Port Huron, Michigan - close enough to the US/Canadian border to watch Canadian TV. In those pre-cable days our choices were the big three US networks, a couple of Detroit UHF channels, and the CBC. Along with Hockey Night in Canada and the Beachcombers I used to watch curling. Maybe you can continue to get your fix from the Great White North, eh?

I tuned in some of the pair skating one night. None of them to stay up. IIRC, 5 couples had at least 1 fall during their performance that night. It was difficult to watch, considering these were supposed to be the best in the world.

As Bryant Gumbel would say, these Olympics didn't have enough 'Hate Whitie' themes. Brokaw delivers. NBC sucks.

This takes the cake.I know. It's nauseating, not to mention disrespectful to this man and what he did.
Brokaw's finally getting back on topic now.

Yeah, I could have killed MSNBC for putting results RIGHT ON THEIR MAIN PAGE through the day. Grrrr.

How can he honor a military vet when he loathes the military? Note that it took an act of the Republican Congress for this honor to be bestowed in the first place.

Howlin...thanks for these threads...
I have loved the Olympics since I first watched them as an 8-year old, the '72 Winter Games in Sapporro...I trained for the games a decade....I've been to the Olympics four times ('84 LA, '88 Calgary, '96 Atlanta, '02 SLC)..
Everytime the games finish I get that sickening, sad feeling... (it'll be gone tomorrow)..
These threads have been great!!
