Is that true? When all the fireworks were going off in the circle, they just *poofed* the flame? How anticlimactic!

Oh my. The clowns are right in front of the stage. I would refuse to go on until the clowns were moved.

I still remember them lighting the Barcelona torch with a flaming arrow. THAT'S the kind of spectacle I want, NOT Ricky Martin.

From that article you linked:
"Soon afterward, the Olympic flag, aloft since the start of the games, was lowered and carried out slowly by eight all-time Italian sports greats, including boxer Nino Benvenuti and skier Gustavo Thoeni. A children's choir sang Verdi's beautiful chorus "Va, pensiero" from the opera "Nabucco."
Those guys dressed like Napolean were former Italian Olypians.
To: Jrabbit
This part of the closing ceremonies always turns into a Super Bowl halftime show.
Lionel Richie started it when he did "All Night Long" in Los Angeles.

I don't think the brides were given an exit strategy. Looks like an Olympic quagmire on that stage.
To: dfwgator
You'd think the next winter games was going to Miami ;^)

pursued a career as a wrestler? She's a 110 pounds and modeled lingerie. She was put on WWF to make 16 year old boys hormonal and to show off her legs. Her wrestling talent was on par with oil wrestlers at a strip bar.
