I don't know if they were 2 separate races of men. Since they intermarried I suspect not. However, the Adam of the Jewish scriptures is to be understood as God's special creation, unlike the others. He was given the special capacity of having spiritual knowledge. He was a new man. Today, in Christ, we too are a special creation, new men. I know it sounds complicated but it isn't really.

I suppose it is even conceivable that spiritualAdam and Eve were a group of people like the Israelites. There is that covenant thing going on that was repeated with Abraham. The priest Melchizadek came from somewhere on earth to see Abraham and give him the bread and wine, the gifts of the promise. I just think it's fascinating stuff. To limit oneself to a literal interpretation of everything in the bible is very intellectually stifling. After all Jesus was not a hinged gate.

I have heard that Melchizedek is not believed to have been a normal man. Do you know any of the basis for this?

Yes, Christians see im as a type of the pre-incarnate Christ, mostly because of the verse in the book of Hebrews that says Jesus is a priest after the order of Melchisadek

Hebrews 7
7:1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
7:2
To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
7:3
Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually
. 7:4
Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.

Why would you think the Lord only refers to the Father.YHWH = LORD
Adonai = Lord

The Lord Jesus Christ is called 'Jehovah' (YHWH) in Rev.1:8.
Check out an Hebrew New Testament and the NWT!
To: Tim Long
I'm not fluent in Hebrew, but when you see "LORD" in all caps, I understand that refers to God the Father, and that "Lord" refers to Jesus. Not at all.
See Rom.10:13 where Paul quotes from Joel 2:32, referring to believing in Christ for salvation.
Joel uses 'Jehovah' for that verse, as does the Hebrew New Testament and NWT.
Ofcourse, in the Greek, the word is 'Kurios' Lord, as it is correctly translated in the King James.
