"generalized bike"
A "colonelized bike" would be fine.

Do any Freepers have advice regarding a good mountain bike? I'm thinking of getting one, but haven't actually been on a bicycle in years. Tell me:
1. Price range
2. What type suspension? (Front, rear, both)
3. Where / how far do you want to ride? (Off of cliffs, dirt paths, on the road?)
Let me know & I'll try & rustle up some suggestions for you.
Cheers!
