The Talibans former spokesman, Rahmatullah Hashemi, is now an undergraduate at Yale University, The New York Times reveals in a lengthy cover story by Chip Brown in its Sunday magazine this weekend.
The cover line reads, He was the Talibans spin doctor. So whats he doing at Yale?"
In fact, the story shows, Hashemi was at Yale once beforein 2001, appearing at a forum representing the Taliban, a few months before the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
A small clip of Hashemi appears in Michael Moores Fahrenheit 9/11 film.
In some ways, Hashemi, 27, says today, Im the luckiest person in the world. I could have ended up in Guantanomo Bay. Instead I ended up at Yale. One of the courses he is taking: TerrorismPast, Present and Future.

yeah. pity about the luck of all those people in the Twin Towers that day, eh Hash?
How is this possible? That being said, I'll wager the NYT thinks this is a good thing.
Ward Churchill would approve.
He must be one of the "best and brightest" who will move on to influential rolls in his lifetime.
"He was the Talibans spin doctor. So whats he doing at Yale?" "
The brief article does nothing to answer this question.
I kept looking for the rest of the article. What was the point of it?
He is no doubt being lionized there for his incredibly brave stand against the American imperialists.
I think what you posted was the write-up about the story. Where's the link to the article?
This is interesting. The Taliban if memory serves me right were really not curious in the ways of the World. MOst didnt even have KNowledge of basic geography. I remember their TV kinda of spokesman and didnt realize if this is the same person he was so young
His road to America was paved largely by Mike Hoover, an American TV cameraman who had met Hashemi in Afghanistan. I thought he could do a lot as a student/teacher, Hoover said.
Unbelievable!
Not sure of the article, but my point is that he should not be at Yale studying Terrorism...
From what we know so far, after graduation he would be a excellent employee at the NYTimes.........
But hey, at least he'll be educated in time for the next attack.
If this is accurate about his past, why has the Bush administration not arrested him.
Here is the link.

IMO, we're living in a Liberal Twilight Zone. People better wake up before it's too late and the Twilight Zone becomes a nasty reality.
The NY Slimes would love to hire him.
I don't know where he should be without reading the rest of the article.
i'd like to know more about this.
