I can remember him on the Steve Allen show in the late 50's as one of the men on the street along with Louie Nye and Tom Poston.

And we can't forget, "I'm having chicken soup with Alma!"

If you haven't heard it, try a copy of Andy Griffith's "Wgat it Was, Was Football"
I have an MP3 of it that I occasionally play and it still gets me laughing to near tears, even knowing what's coming.
I've lived in the South a long time, so maybe it isn't that funny if you're not familiar with Apalachian style dialog.

RIP Mr. Knotts. I'm sorry to hear of his passing but am glad he had a good long life. I only saw Andy Griffith shows in rerun but have always liked them. In fact, this past year we bought the first season for our kids to enjoy. They are all just as fun as if I had never seen them before!
However, I'm really going to think hard before buying anymore "oldies" for the kids because I bought them "Gilligan's Island" and then Bob Denver died...now Don Knotts after buying this batch.

Rule #1 Obey All Rules LOL - that was hilarious. "Rule #2 - No writing on the wall as it is very difficult to clean the wall after you have written on it" or something like that. LOL!
I also liked his occasional appearances on Matlock as Les Calhoun.

I'm working my way through the first and fourth season DVD collections. Andy, Barney and the gang are the best TV show. Ever.

I'll miss ya, Don. Thanks so much!

Dang! Forgot about Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo. And that was the first Herbie movie I ever saw. (I saw the original and Rides Again later.)
I was just thinking about "The Apple Dumpling Gang".

Nip it in the bud! NIP IT IN THE BUD!"(grin) That just made me remember the Mayberry Rap from a dozen or more (probably more) years ago. The Barney verse contained the line, "Whenever there is trouble, I'm there on the double to Nip -- It -- In -- The -- Bud!"
