It's obvious that NBC decided to build their prime time coverage around Michele Kwan, Bode Miller and Apolo Ohno. They decided to make those three the Olympic stars and their events rated prime time coverage, all else be damned.
Kwan drops out, Ohno has a slow start and Bode bombs. NBC really messed up bigtime. I can't remember an Olymics that didn't have a virtual nobody come out of the games a household name. I for one loved the Japanese figure skater Arakawa and I admit to loving a Canadian! The curling guy Brad Gushue became an Olympic favorite of mine.
NBC tried to force it all on the viewers instead of lettng the events happen.

Nothing new there. The real news is always
better than the synthetic stuff we're forced
to gag down. You think they would learn.

Good grief, I just learned that gold medal winner Shizuka Arakawa has been living in Avon, CT and training at the International Skating Center of Connecticut in Simsbury... It would be nice to see a list of the places where Olympians train. My bet would be that quite a few train in the USA. It would be good for the world to see another example of how welcoming this country is. Some are expats taking advantage of the opportunity for better training conditions. Others represent their country of origin only because they are not tops in their sport.

I didn't see this, but my husband said Mancuso did a darling little "girly wriggle dance"
when she qualified for the GS. Perhaps Picabo disaproves.
The Maureen "Dowd"y types need to get over it. Femininity sells. SHAKE IT BABY!

It's probably wrong to feel this way but.....
Does it bother anyone else how many athletes live in the US, make money in the US, train in the US, have support in the US then compete for another country?

Let's hear it for Bode Miller, the biggest dud in US Olympics history !! LOL. Thankfully, we have some great unassuming, down to business athletes winning some gold, silver and bronze medals for the U.S.A.!!
Go, Team U.S.A.!!

Which NBC have you been watching?!?!?! From the incessive commercials, cry-shows on the athletes, waiting until 11pm to show competitions that are the most popular AND failing to show most events live, NBC has done a horrible job.

To: JacksonCalhoun
I'm so glad you posted that as I was positively itching to say .... Way to go Apollo!!! NBC stayed with the bronze medal hockey game but Canadian TV cut away to show the 500M final live. Wait until you see the race -- it is awesome! What a performance. Woohoooo.

I agree...NBC's coverage is horrible..but that is nothing new..
They are giving more coverage to the games in Torino then the games in Salt Lake City!!!
How the hell, when the ladies finals in figure skating in the biggest event, do you string it out until 12AM???
Did they learn nothing from Monday Night Football???
