Have you ever taken a marketing class?

It matters to his sport that he is world Champion ...

it matters to Nike that he is HOT.

Yeah, I've taken several marketing classes. All the HOTness in the world ain't gonna erase his abysmal performance (0-5) in these Olympics, and I would guess that most Americans were embarrassed by his arrogant who-the-hell-cares I just wanna party attitude... hardly the attitude and demeanor of a champion (ie like Apolo Ohno).

And if the "world championship" were held today, you can bet that Bode.BOMB wouldn't win it, being overweight, unprepared, unfocused and hung over the way he was during these Olympics...

Let me know when you spot Bode.BOMB on a Wheaties box in the next few months...

I do agree with you that Bode is just a human being, is young, doesn't carry the world on his shoulders, and that we should probably cut him a break. But I submit that Nike wanted more than him being 'hot' ... they wanted him to be a winner too.

Appollo is one arrogant and whining athlete and his father condones this behavior. Where did he get the name Apollo, anyway. He only becomes humble when necessary. I was rooting for him to lose.

LOL nutmeg- just to refresh your memory here are Bode's Bona fides:

2002 Olympic silver medalist combined and giant slalom and member of the 2006 U.S. Olympic team

2005 World Cup overall champion, becoming the first American to win the title in 22 years; also won the super-G overall title on the season

2005 World champion in downhill, super-G

In 2005, he became the first man since 1989 to win in all four disciplines in one season

Won 2004 World Cup overall giant slalom title

I would put my money on Bode being aksed to do a Wheaties Box Cover long before we would see your *backside* on an Olympic ski hill-

...or a commerical for a hill of beans for that matter. :]

I think it was Chad Davis, the long-tracker, that's 28. But I thought I heard on TV that one of the short-tracker Canadians (Eric Bedard?) in the final was 29 ... I tried double-check on NBC.com but the web site doesn't have his bio. If so, Apolo could certainly be back in 2010. We can always hope.

I know Nike wanted him to win, but Bode has been a good spokesperson for them- and that guy is going to come out of this OK in the end. He is a gifted athlete.

I bet you money he has had a hardship over the past year or so that we do not know about right now.

He will have a come back. He is a good guy.

What does MY backside on an Olympic ski hill have to do with anything? You don't know me, nor do you know anything about me. We're talking about Bode Miller here, not me.

Kudos to Bode for his PAST championships, but check out his behavior during these CURRENT Olympic games for yourself, and tell me if he still merits the title of "champion" or "hero":

"Me, it's been an awesome two weeks," Miller said. "I got to party and socialize at an Olympic level."

LOL! You are right I do not know much about you.

I know this nutmeg- you are not an Olympic athlete or a world Champion anything, and you have never been asked to model for Wheaties or adorn the cover of magazines. I bet I would be safe to say your life has not been a fish bowl to everyone to peek into to,,,, and I would wager to bet that you have never been held up as a sex symbol for the world to see and adored by millions of people. How you know how people deal with that pressure is beyond me...

SO you can cut and paste until the cows come home. I know this~You still will not know what you are talking about.

Miller and his website made me sick and tired of him early on. He knew he didn't have the fire or ability in his belly to win and covered his butt early on. So now we will see his blood shot eyes and unshaven face on a Wheaties box? I think not.

I suspect from what you've been saying about Bode, you must know him personally. So... what's he really like? ;-)

Back in the old days before zillion dollar endorsements for amateur athletes...

Bode Miller was a mess and an utter embarrassment during these Olympics. Michelle Kwan had the good sportsmanship and honor to allow an alternate to take her place on the team when she knew she couldn't give the U.S. team her best performance.

On the other hand, Miller was only there for the parties. He is old enough to know better. He will never be on a box of Wheaties. He is toast.

Well, if he is going to be a sexy Olympic loser on a Wheaties box, he really should get his teeth fixed. Ugh!

I am watching Ohno on with Bob Costas right now...and since I don't know him personally, I have to go off of what I am seeing..

I think he is very refreshing, and professional sounding. He hasn't complained about anything...and even had pictures taken with the Koreans...who he has fought for years..

He is giving credit to the dorm people in Colo. Springs.

He doesn't know if he will be skating in Vancouver..but, I hope so, based on this interview.

I hope you saw it...

Well again- that is very easy for you to say from where you sit. I still like him... and so do millions of his fans. I think he will just go on and win something else.

Skiers are still going to love this guy.

He brought a lot to his sport and he has given a lot to his sport.

Sorry- it will take more than this to tear him down.

I saw it and I was not impressed by his new found humility and team spirit. He whined about being doubled by his competitors because he is so talented since the start of the Olympics. If he didn't win, it was because of this and nothing else. This man, who has a nickname, made up to make him a star, is a product of a mistake made four years ago in the Olympics. I am surprised he even got a Gold on a clean skate this year.
