Support.
This nation has been whipped into an uncontrollable frenzy. I thought we were smarter than that.
Doesn't the mayor know it was the English that shelled the Fort. Yes, the English, the same guys who now operate in your port.
Foreign countries operate all of the ports in this country. Where have you been?
Support ... the best spokesperson for the UAE port management deal is Tony Snow. In any case, any lingering reservations I may have had were dispelled by General Tommy Franks who Snow interviewed today on his show. Franks feels very strongly about supporting the UAE.
In the war against terror, as in other precarious situations, it is better to err on the side of caution.
I would prefer to see only U.S. companies and the U.S. government invlolved in running our ports. If we announce this as an official policy, than no country has a right to be offended.
Supported from day one.
strongly support.
You seem to forget that most people get their news from the MSM. The MSM is enjoying this frenzy even more than the Democrats. No surprise here at all.
I vote YEA! I can see past the BS and into the strategic need.
This thread is not an appropriate place to debate. But as an observation to you, we already trade quite a bit with muslims including depending on them for a huge chunk of our oil. It's just how it is.
And I think General Franks has a little more information than the average person does on how things work in that part of the world. I trust his judgement.
I never really looked into it.
I'll be the first to admit I had no idea this was going on.
Please tell me???
Was this a long term project or plan of GWB? Or -
Did he just learn about it a week ago like he said?
If he is telling the truth that he just learned about it, do you think it prudent to say you are vetoing a bill about an issue you admittedtly know nothing about????
Oppose.
Was not aware a UK company ran ports. Am now. Oppose that.
Don't care that "nothing will change" and "they will not run security". This entire country is being sold piece by piece to the highest bidder. I oppose that as well.
Opposed to the words "kneejerk" and "Bushbot".
Opposed to this being YET AGAIN another occassion in which the administration has been caught flat-footed and politically tone-deaf in both its position and presentation of such.
Opposed to Freepers resorting to DU tactics. Sure, this is a heated topic. Yes, one can be a conservative and disagree with Bush - or fully support him. But some of the flamewars on these threads have been embarassing.
Opposed to remaining in the office any more. I'm outta here. Have a nice weekend everyone.
Thanks for creating this updated poll.
I new there was a shift there and its interesting to actually see it.
If we can sell the UAE these what are we worrying about them running our ports for?

From my post: "...while opposing allowing a foreign firm to run the Port. He obviously did not know that it has been run by a British firm for several years!"
Uh you do know that saudi arabia has been operating port container terminals since 1983, this is not something new, so the administartion was not caught flat footed. What happened is that you listened to trumped up hillary/schumer lies.
I understand it better but I think we really need to rethink any strategic operation we have in this country that has the ability to put our country at the slightest risk in the future.
We should be in total control of all our ports and any other operation that could in the future be a security problem like; airports, boarders, food supply, communication systems and their parts, energy infrastructure and parts, medical supply, army parts and supplies should all be American only or at least sustainable by Americans in case the world attacks us.
