People with hidden agendas in charge of critically important businesses

One of the good things about this Dubai Ports World deal:

The country is examining its feelings about putting people with hidden agendas in charge of businesses that might impact our lives in a negative way. And while the Dubai Ports World company will not be in charge of the security of six of our ports, we still must calmly assess the potential harm if they are not playing it straight with us. Do they have an agenda other than professionally and efficiently running our ports? Can they be trusted?

Like putting a hardened liberal in charge of a news outlet. We all know controlling the flow of information is just as important as controlling the flow of goods at our ports. In both instances, we rely on the people in charge not to manipulate or distort the products they handle.

Like the forged documents CBS News tried to sneak past the American people in hopes of defeating President Bush. This was a case where a news organization tried to undermine the Commander-In-Chief's credibility during a time of war and just before his bid for re-election. Dan Rather, the Managing Editor of the Evening News, launched a sneak attack against a sitting American President by deceitfully reporting as fact the information contained in forged documents in order to influence the outcome of the election. Rather, operating under the guise of an honest journalist, deliberately used documents of unverified authenticity to falsely accuse President Bush of disobeying orders, getting preferential treatment and being AWOL during his time in The National Guard. The leaders of that news organization had a hidden agenda and didn't handle the facts the way professional journalists should. And that's putting it mildly.

Fortunately, American citizens and The New Media diffused the political bombshell before it destroyed the confidence of a majority of American voters in their President.

Why did The Managing Editor, the man who controlled the flow of information at CBS, do this? He had a political agenda that outweighed his commitment to honestly manage and control the flow of information to Americans. Rather and his co-workers sought to do an American President harm by deceit and deception. Thankfully, he was caught red-handed.

Sound familiar? Yes, we need to know about hidden agendas.

Propaganda and bad information mass distributed to a nation and to the world is serious stuff. It can affect national security. It can affect the way our leaders are viewed and the way we react to them when decisions are made.

There are many examples of the liberal press ignoring, distorting and manipulating the news in order to advance their agenda-- a hidden agenda. We know how hard they have worked to deliberately discredit President Bush, Vice-President Cheney, Secretary Rumsfeld, Secretary Rice, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Tom DeLay, Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Ronald Reagan, and on and on and on. This was done by mismanaging the flow of information to the general public. Fortunately, the New Media has begun to shed light on the deliberate distortions and reporting of fiction as fact. Still, the deceit and deception has had its toll. What did the one talking head say? That the Antique, partisan media was worth 10-15 points to Kerry's vote percentage in the last election?

So, we should all agree information, goods and services should be managed by trustworthy professionals. We need to know who is in charge and how they intend to execute their duties. That is important if we are to stay safe and secure as a nation.

Contolling the flow of information is critical to our national interests and our national security.

Excellent idea! I vote for the CFR! They should control the flow of information!

Oh, but according to another thread, we must be either "mullets or moonbats" for thinking this.....

Funny thing. I'm not some "hick" living in "the sticks" .... I am a business man myself. But unlike many of my "Davos Culture" infused fellows, I actually seem, against all odds, to have developed an element of Clausewitzian perspective in my own world view. Some things supercede pure business and global economic utopian notions. Burke himself expounded on this distinction and any who want to be true conservatives, in the old British rural tradition, must understand it fully.

"Prepare to be flamed by the Dubai Yes men."

I am a Dubaiya yes man. No flame here. My problem with this is I cannot trust the media in reporting this accurately and because I don't have enough information, I am assuming the administration did their due diligence.

I believe there is an agenda here and it has nothing to do with the UAE managing some terminals.

I am with you guys. National security and sovereignty trumps global capitalism, which by the way is looking more like global socialism.

Western capital (money & technology) being siphoned from USA (the have's) to the world's have not's.

Don't like the way this is headed one bit, political spin and all.

That's my guess. The NYT reveals our most secret secrets and W has led the charge to protect our national security despite these irresponsible fools. And Dems get credit now for being more trustworthy regarding national security than Republicans??

"And Dems get credit now for being more trustworthy regarding national security than Republicans??"

And Republicans bought it hook line and sinker. At the least people like King and Frist should have hedged, perhaps expressed concern and more info.

Instead they joined the Dem hysteria rant.
