Unmarried Couple Denied Right to Move In
WWTI (ABC) ^ | 2/23/2006 | United Press International

Posted on 02/23/2006 1:53:52 PM PST by Quick1

A Missouri couple say they were denied an occupancy permit for their new home because they're not married.

Olivia Shelltrack and Fondray Loving have been together for 13 years and have three children, ages 8, 10 and 15, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The couple are appealing the occupancy permit denial from the Black Jack, Mo., board of adjustment, which requires people living together to have blood, marriage or adoption ties. Loving is not the father of Shelltrack's oldest child.

I was basically told, you can have one child living in your house if you're not married, but more than that, you can't, Shelltrack told the newspaper.

This is about the definition of family, not if they're married or not, Mayor Normal McCourt said. It's what cities do to maintain the housing and to hold down overcrowding.

They are illegal in Texas. Occasionally the DA who didn't care much for enforcing Texas' sodomy law will get the vice squad to bust the clerk working in an adult store.

The state says that they cannot be "detailed" in a way that makes them resemble male anatomy and in general, possession of 6 or more is intent to sell.

Must be. I guess they didn't have a good enough argument, and so decided to save face and leave you alone. :)

Yeah. Good choice on their part.

My daughter's male genetic source abandoned her mom and her before she was born, so at least that was one hurdle I didn't have to jump adopting her.

Unfortunately, my childrens DNA donor still harrasses us, though he chooses to not pay child support. He is over $6,000 behind...and is only ordered to pay $150.00 a month *total*!!!!

Chuck Rosenthal doesn't get my vote anymore (and some other Republicans have decided to stop voting for him as well).

I'd still like to know who murdered the gay lover who originally called the cops on that gay lovemaking session in the apartment. He was an abused lover of one of the men. He had a pending case of assault against one of the men at the time he was murdered. To the best of my knowledge, this case has received ZERO attention (I discovered it on the police website when I did a Google search for background on the men who were involved in the case).

Then again the city of Houston is notably poor at addressing violent crime. Fines are where the money is and the city needs lots of it.

In most cities, the typical murder gets about as much attention as a traffic fatality.

If the crime is especially gruesome and the victim is young and pretty, and Fox doesn't already have a young and pretty victim story running, it *might* get mentioned on more than one news cycle.

My Ruger P235, 45 semi auto

Also by my 45, that day. all hits but one in the kill zone.

My Charter Arms, Bulldog... 44 special

Trying to get it right...the sights on this one are terrible.
This one is only good for very close targets.

I know two different young women who were carjacked last year (one was kidnapped at knife point, the other was kicked in the ribs and had a sawed off shotgun pointed at her by a 14 year old).

Both cars were recovered. Both cars had evidence (including a photo ID badge of someone who had no legal ties to the car).

The police refused to pursue either case. And this was pre-Katrina evacuation (the violent crime rate in the city has only gone up). As I said on another thread, my employer has added private security for our workers (the parking garage already has security but it has been ruled inefficent as have the police). The Guardian Angels have also come to Houston to try to offer some protection.

But we've got billions of dollars in new stadiums and city council members who aren't afraid to sheild nightclubs that later get convicted in intetnational ecstasy production rings. I won't even get into the lobbyist who was murder and his death masked by arson.

I want my city back.

Nice! I sold off all my guns in a vain attempt to please my ex. Just got a 1911-A1, haven't even shot it yet.

so, you got a wife in exchange for your guns? I think you got the bad end of that deal...especially since the wife is now ex...and the others still have your guns. :)

Shoulda kept the guns and got rid of the wife earlier.

I wouldn't let my ex have guns...he didn't have them when we got together...I didn't trust him to have them in the house with the kids. He wasn't very responsible. Now that he is gone, and I can teach the kids the right way, I have those two... Crys will have a 22 single shot rifle next year. (she's already learning how to shoot one in the Junior NRA). Cody (may) have a BB gun next year. I will have my own reload kit then too.

Are you going to take your new gun out on a date this weekend? :)
