An appeal from the Catholic Church for New Zealanders to boycott an episode of South Park has resulted in a record audience there for the controversial cartoon.
The "Bloody Mary" episode of South Park drew more than six times the normal audience, New Zealand broadcaster TV Works announced Thursday...

kick ass
More publicity, bigger audience. hehe.
Did Kyle's Mom organize the boycott?
I would have hoped that my church could have learned the obvious from the ongoing muslim cartoon non-event...
That's usually what happens when a popular product is boycotted. What's next, 2 ply?
Same thing applies to South Park, or whatever. Giving these things publicity only makes more people curious.
That doesn't mean that you can't have an influence: you can, but it's best to go after the advertisers, not just urging a ban. For instance, in the US, Book of Daniel lasted about three episodes because no one watched it, and because advertisers didn't want to affiliate themselves with it. I bet that the Danish newspaper, Jyllands Posten, gets ads from multinationals like Shell, BMW, Pfizer, whatever. I'm sure if Arabs threatened to boycott those companies that advertised in JP, they'd get JP to be more responsive. But bombing an embassy doesn't really affect the paper, except that it tends to sell more papers.
They always do.
This is a very, very inopportune time for any religious group to be organizing boycotts of cartoons . . .
How would HE know that?
Personally I blame Canada.
I wonder what Brian Boitano would have done?
The great Queen Spider told him, of course.
Apparently, he reads a lot...just a guess...
Stan: He did it!
Kyle: No more Barbra Streisand, everrrrr!
Stan: Wow! Robert Smith is the greatest person that ever lived!
He probably did more than just read when he was younger. ;)
Blame Canada!
Anyone knows, trying to boycott any episode of SouthPark, will result in more and more people tuning in, to see what all the fuss is about...the surest way to ensure an even bigger audience for SouthPark is to publically complain about it...most folks are not going to take the word of someone else about something on TV...they will tune in, watch the episode, and make up their own minds...
