I would like to apologize if I offended you in any way. It was not my intention to inject religion into this discussion and I did not and do not believe that Bush is in any way satanic, nor evil. He is an ordinary man as blessed and fallible as any of us.

What I was trying to convey was my concern that some had figuratively elevated the President beyond that status, to the point where they are reluctant to question his judgment, or his speech. No elected official should ever be so elevated; they serve the people, are empowered by the people, and must listen to and obey the will of the people. If the facts of this case support this administration then it is incumbent on them to clearly and convincingly place those facts before us. Otherwise this decision should be questioned, investigated, and reviewed, and such corrective action taken so as to ensure that these mistakes are not repeated.

I'm sitting here munching on popcorn, drinking Diet Dr. Pepper, and smiling DJ.

You seem to have a problem with perception with folks you don't agree with. That's OK, though...........think what you wish. I always tell the truth, and if you knew anything about me, you'd know that.

Good night. Next time, let's make the rules the same for both teams, OK?

I agree completely with your second paragraph. I don't know anyone who disagrees, to tell you the truth....

But I very much appreciate your apology. As a Christian I took great offense by your words, and I appreciate your taking them back. Those of us who pray for the President know, perhaps better than anyone else, that he is dependent on the Lord completely for the very reasons you state..........that he is sinful, and prone to error, as much as any human being...........perhaps more because of his position.

That's why I pray so hard for him. Not because I think he's perfect, but because I know he's not.

Thank you, ARCADIA.

No problem, I've just been wandering the halls of FR and sort of meandered onto this thread, thought I'd check in.

If you weren't watching the first of Greta's show, it was pretty laughable. She's down in New Orleans and was interviewing some official at the Port of New Orleans. She tried as hard as she could to get him to say differently but he maintained over and over that he didn't see any difference occuring with port operations or security if the UAE should take over.

Then she interviewed a Coast Guard official at the Port of New Orleans and Greta kept saying over and over that we "aren't inspecting 100% of the containers". The Coast Guard officer continued to calmly maintain that in his opinion the customs dept have good procedures in place for container identification and inspection as it relates to port security.

She finally let it go, LOL!

rights to operate and control all the shipping terminals at six of our eastern seaports.

WRONG...do a little research and fill that vaccuum...start by going to the P&O website and jotting down the port resources they control...then go to each and every port authority in question and study the statistics on the number of berths and cranes and the capacity...

Once you have done all that and post back here I will finish reading your post...

Tampa has been added so it's 7.

Well..NO...not exactley...its now 6 if Tampa is included. New York and New Jersey are actually the same terminal...aka Port Newark Elizabeth Terminal...

The sale of operations of the container facilities is a UK transaction, something we cannot stop.

Sure we can. We're a capitalist country, not a socialist one. We generally don't take kindly to having governments running businesses. I don't understand why some are more tolerant of foriegn governments intervening in our economy. It's beyond me.

State-owned enterprises are the halmark of socialism.

Poor Greta! LOL!

I'll tell you what's turned me around on this, prairie...........and it just happened today.

CWO Jackson gave me the inside information on the Coast Guard, and what the Navy thinks.........and then I read Tommy Frank's comments, and I became convinced that there is absolutely no added security risk with this move, and that it is a good decision all around.

I am now at peace about the President's decision (thank the Lord!)

No government, foriegn or domestic, should be running our ports. Period.

There ought to be a law prohibiting the sale of any US enterprise to a foriegn government, or any state-owned company.

Schumer and conservative Republican Senator Tom Coburn from Oklahoma have taken the same position against this sweetheart deal given to DPW/UAE.

Okay, I'll ask - - why is this a sweetheart deal?

Thanks ohioWfan. Like many other people with a real working knowledge of port operations, I couldn't believe this was ever an issue.

I truly wish that these people would tell the truth about things"

They're politicians.
Truth is a foreign concept to them.

And I really thank you for that.!

Is stevedoring and terminal operations two different things?
