He could have killed hundreds. The point being is that a UK citizen was part of al-queda, as was US citizen johnny(jihad) walker lindh.
I think you're right. But the strange thing is if 9/11 did NOT happen I would think that the chances of UAE doing something nefarious would be greater(and I am not saying they have any intention of doing evil). With 9/11, the UAE must know they will be under the microscope. I would think they would be more concerned than anyone else with something happening at the ports while they are in charge of operations.
Because of the lack of profit margins as a result of regulation, American companies aren't interested in the port business.
Now that the longshoremen are involved there will be even more.
If you want American companies to thrive, you introduce less legislation, not more. Conservatives are swallowing the liberal line here en masse.
Schumer/Clinton/Longshoremen...the liberal machine strikes again.
I wonder why so many people are willing to overlook the fact that the UAE would love to see Israel blown off the map?
Perhaps a lawsuit over the ports deal would stop the sale, because the total amount due the buyer would suddenly be in dispute. The U.K. deal would explode if the U.S. applecarts were suddenly tipped over. Dubai would be buying a pig in a poke. Ever think about that? Yes? No? Maybe? Dunno?
A lot of people who live near these ports think so and politically are from all over the spectrum. Given 9/11 I'd rather err on the side of caution.
"The UAE in general is anti union. The building boom in Dubai is practically union free and they crush any sort of labor movements there."
Do you know the answer to my question here ...

In another lifetime I worked for Sea Land Service........they're long since gone and now the name has been retired too.
If Hillary had been caught attempting to turn control of our ports over to the towel-heads in UAE, Rush would rightfully be screaming bloody murder. I wonder how much Rove and co. are paying him to carry their water?
There are two camps in this debate: those who try to support a consistent set of principles (occasionally pitting them against their own party); and those who consistently support "their guy", who in this case is Bush. They are right when he is right, and wrong when he is wrong.
Chuckie's wife is Transportation Commissioner, but notice when the ferry crashed and eleven people were killed and hundreds injured there was NO mention of accountability at all coming from Mayor Bloomingidiot
Oh good, let the lawyers (in black robes) decide.
>>>Anthony Coscia, chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, said the agency would file a lawsuit later Thursday or Friday in New Jersey's Essex County state court.
>>>"We as owners of that facility should be made comfortable that whoever operates it is capable of it," Coscia said.
WE? Does this mean WE tax payers get a vote in this????
The FACT is that most terrorism in the world is carried out by muslims.
Is chuckie's wife filing the suit?
Yeah that's why Reagan pulled out of Lebanon.
You guys are clueless.
The company is extremely competent, working presently in Australia.......as strong ally in the War on Terror......the decision is good financially, and the authorities do not consider it a national security risk.
As I have said previously, I have opposed this decision, but the more the facts are revealed, and the more it becomes obvious that the politicians are grandstanding to make it LOOK like they are tough on national security, the more comfortable I have become with it. (As for the talk show hosts, they are always grandstanding).
There is no change in who does what, and the Coast Guard is still in charge of security. There is no further risk to our safety with this change, according to the military people I trust.
My mistake .. you are correct .. sorry
