I managed to listen to Rush today for the first time in a while. He Put his support behind the President. I have been watching the major media, FOX, FR, etc. and came to the same conclusion. We should go for it.

In listening to all the hubbub about this, I am amazed at the ignorance of the press, the media, the commentators and even some of the military. The stupidity of the pols doesn't surprise me a bit!

I have heard supposedly intelligent representatives make some of the most ill-informed comments imaginable.

1) We ARE NOT SELLING THE PORT TO THE UAE! The British are!
2) We WILL control security ops in the port, just as before.
3) One military wonk said that we only check 2% of the incoming cargo anyway. That is OUR fault and won't change unless we change it.
4) The UAE is the most Americanized and PRO American country in the ME.*

* I hear the argument that 2 of the 9/11 terrorists came from the UAE. I got a flash, many resided in Arizona (my state). Do we ban Arizona n's? BTW, I believe there are as many killings of Americans in the USA every day as there are in Iraq!

Incorrect...there is no transfer of title involved regarding the ports.

In all cases (6 ports), what is being transfered are lease agreements and infrastructure developement (cranes, container lifts, dollies, mules...)

In all cases the cargo handling capacity is a fraction of all of the terminals in the port.
