"Murtha's 2005 year-end campaign finance report indicates he has $1.59 million on hand. Irey's year-end report shows a balance of $57,000."
That can be overcome if the party thinks he is a serious candidate.

Whoops!
The title should read "Irey Weighs Run Against Murtha".
This is Front Page news here locally today, although I'm not positive it's breaking news.
Where it goes in the sidebar is your call,of course.
Thanks!

Any US Representative who tells the young people of our nation not to join the military doesn't belong in Congress. That is unforgivable.

Brabender does good work. I'd like to see him get his chance to produce advertising and do fundraising for this race. Run, Diana, Run!

I just spoke to her campaign office. She
IS running against M'utha. They are gathering signatures now, which she said will be no problem. Money of course will be the biggest issue.
Please ping your lists and see what we can do to help her!
BTW, the woman I spoke to is the mother of a Marine!

Pennsylvania has two bad apples when it comes to our US Troops - Murtha and Governor Rendell.
Governor Rendell of Pennsylvania prevented US Troops in Iraq from voting in the 2004 election because of corruption in Harrisburg. The US Dept of Justice had to intervene to allow votes by US Troops fighting and dying in Iraq and Afghanistan to be counted in the 2004 election.
Maybe Rendell and Murtha should have bumper sticker - "To Hell with our Troops and what they fight for"... It would be appropriate...

There are two key questions:
1.) Are Washington County Commissioners elected at-large or by district?
2.) What kind of margins has she won by?

Murtha, 73, of Johnstown, is a senior member of Congress, dean of the state's congressional delegation and the top-ranking Democrat on the House Appropriations defense subcommittee.I believe it is critically important that the GOP take on these bigshots. If there was a viable GOP in Massachusetts, they should be getting their very best candidate to run for senate whenever one of the 'rat K-scumbags is up for re-election. The purpose would be to insure that a good solid message got out, with publicity for Republicans as solid options not throw-away cranks; but also the fact is, sometimes the people choose an unexpected giant-killer.

She should use the photo of Murtha posing with the Code Pinkos - those whackos protesting outside of Walter Reed Medical Center.

This is great news. I know she's held the line on raising taxes in Washington County, and we're starting to see some development from that.
Another plus is that she drives the dims around here nuts.
Unfortunately, I live in the half of the county that's not the 12th district.
